What some of the negative nellies below don't seem to understand is, a tool like this is a Godsend to people with dexterity or eyesight issues. Sure, if you don't have any issues, just tie the knot yourself. I would have liked to have seen the demo with a hook with an eyelet. Threading the eyelet is my most difficult part due to poor eyesight. Looks interesting--I'll do some more research. Thanks for posting.

When the line goes past the hook, it should go past on the left hand side of the hook. I know you used a big hook for demonstration purposes, but the smaller the hook, the more it becomes difficult. I have the same model as you and with bad hand grip and failing eye sight, find the hook tyre very handy bit of kit.

Strong and sharp hook with bend in eye that seems to help leverage the hook to improve hook ups.

Hello. The Electric FG Tying tool is a very good gadget, glad that you've liked it! With this one, the choice is yours as I never say that it is an essential gadget to have in your tackle box. You can use the good old way and tie hooks by hand...

Another honest review. I wonder how you determine the length of the hooklength so that each hooklength is of uniform length?

Hello Don. I don't really understand the question fully, but usually, when I pick the hooks, I use logic. When using this tool, the shaft of a hook should be a bit longer than usual and if the hook is to big or to small it becomes hard to use it...

@@fishmadpro7210 my question is lost in translation. A hooklength in UK is the length of the nylon with the hook attached at one end and the loop at the other. We like to attempt to keep hooklengths all the same so if we get a fish or get snagged on an underwater object and the line snaps we can put a new hooklength on again quickly knowing that we are still fishing at the same depth as before our first hooklength snapped.

@@donb3557 Hey Don. Sorry for the late reply, have just seen your comment. When I'm float fishing, the length of a nylon with a hook attached I use is approximately 220mm or 8.66 inches and the line is much thinner then the main one. Hope that answers your question.

Hello. SUITABLE HOOK SIZE: Short Handle / Long Handle (optional). Short Handle: 88 * 70 * 18mm / 3.5 * 2.8 * 0.7in, Long Handle: 117 * 88 * 18mm / 4.6 * 3.5 * 0.7in.

The smallest I’ve had good results with in the UK is size 18 in a standard match type hook. Going below that there’s not enough shank on the hook left sticking out after you clip it into the holder for the line to go around below the spade end.

Your technique doesn't seem quite right. Your line from the tied knot is going behind the spade, instead of coming up the front of the shank and spade. It will create friction between the spade and the line.
