John Lennon or maybe Paul, had a son when they were 6 yrs old🤫🤭 it's too uncanny, certainly disciples of the Beatles. They made way for that sound to trancsend and evolve for the joy of us all! 😘ELO🙋WE NEED YA NOW! MORE THEN EVER, FOREVER!😘

Doesn't this lyric amaze you? They know how we would feel about the thins to come. And the younger generations are completely lost anyway. But do people even understand what's going on, or is it just stupid nostalgia for times that were obviously completely different and better? They really have always told us enough and made it very clear.

My Wife told me when she was 11 years old, she told her Dad that she liked looking at the Moon. Her Dad said one day I'll be up there and I'll be waveing to you when I see you, he past away 6 weeks later. Now I look at the Moon and I see my Beautiful Wife and my Father In Law looking and waveing at me, and this song brings back Beautiful Memories of my Wife. Thank You Electric Light Orchestra for a Beautiful Song.

I feel you. I just lost my life long sweetheart. Our history was 47years. She passed 5 weeks ago and I feel lost without her. I don't know what drew me to thus song. Maybe because both ways is such a lonely and permanent fate. I'm sorry for your loss brother.

The last life saving surgery I had was in 2006. My 8th to date. After surgery, I couldn't be woken and the doctors were more than a little anxious at my comatose state. So my missus got my ipod with mini speakers and played ELO's TIME album. My favourite album and this song is on it. Apparently, half way through this song, I suddenly awoke and asked one of the startled nurses, _"Why are we going to the moon?"_ Then promptly went back to sleep again for about 10 minutes before fully regaining consciousness 8-))... The power of ELO ;-))...

The year was 1998. I was 10 years old. My mother had left my father. The dew was on the grass just after dawn. Birds were chirping. Everything was right in our surroundings. We sat in his Nissan truck. I did not know true sorrow as my father did. However, I could feel his pain. He put the "TIME" cassette into the stereo. He never shed a tear, he didn't sob. He got out of his seat and said to me "son, things might be ugly at times, but today is a beautiful day". Years later, I have never forgotten the importance of stoicism, honor, and integrity. Thank you ELO and thank you papa. If only you could see me now.

You know that while this song had never beaten even a top 10 songs of ELO in the west, it was 100% hit in the USSR and adjacent countries…still “Ticket to the moon” remains the most recognizable song of this band for people of the all post-soviet space. It’s just extremely vivid how strange and perplexing the world can be! And still as a Russian after getting acquainted with other songs of them THIS ONE is unquestionably loveliest for me and a true masterpiece which probably outran its time)

1981 год. Советский союз. чудом избежав Афганистана я пришёл из армии и устроился работать на подшипниковый завод. ГПЗ-10, Ростов на Дону. Как я купил хорошую аппаратуру, промолчу, но стал диджеем... Сколько же страстей кипело, сколько народу "подружилось телами" под эту музыку!))))❤

Тоже 79-81 вывели из команды на Афган из-за очков. Дослуживал под Питером. После армии купил в кредит полный комплект Радиотехники с колонками С 90. Возил с собой, работал водителем, на базу отдыха. Эх....было время...

Самый лучший концерт из великого множества концертов и песен других исполнителей в 70-е годы... Не было в продаже виниловых дисков, но на катушечных магнитофонах "Электрик" был у всех уважающих себя меломанов! Нельзя выразить словами впечатление, которое произвела на нас тогда эта композиция. И вот сейчас, благодаря интернету, мы можем сказать всему миру, как нам повезло быть молодыми в ту прекрасную пору...

This song remindes me so much of my father, he used to listen to their album non-stop back in the 80's in Moscow, Russia. He didn't understood a word, yet still found their album magical and somehow relative. This song always bring tears to my eyes, because it reminds me of the soft, gentle side of my father, and also that everything is so temporary and one day I won't have my father anymore.

Treasure your time Anna while you can cos your right, one day everyone you loved will be gone time waits for no one, my own father never loved me or my sister, we were taken away from him and put in foster care, he remarried had two more kids and gave them everything 🤷‍♂️could never understand that, often think of him but he’s gone now he died aged 58.

My brother introduced me to this album. I think I wore out his cassette of it. This song is the one that always gets stuck in my head. The lyrics are incredible. "And the tears I cry might turn into the rain that gently falls against your window, You'll never know" always bring me to tears. I suppose it's because he will never know how much I miss him since his death. He was the best brother a little sister could have ever asked for.

Мне 34. Впервые услышала сегодня эту песню. Шла мимо магазина и услышала, сразу понравилась. Зашла и узнала кто поёт! Вот, сижу слушаю теперь, довольная😁 И одновременно мне стало грустно, что не знаю я многих интересных групп, легенд по сути. Но ничего, каждый раз, с открытием новой группы, я получаю сюрприз 🙂👌

Вот что-что, а билет на Луну по своей мелодичности и переливам мало с чем сравниться, крайне самобытное произведение. Не уже ли СНГшный народ, действительно как-то "по-особенному" слышит и слушает музыку? К слову, Dire Straits тоже удивили, такая чудесная баллада.

I read somewhere that it's about drugs but I'd agree with you. Maybe it's not success, maybe it is about getting hight to the moon, but his love for sure won't be with him, maybe she just left him or she died of drugs. He payed the fare is about decisions that are already made, one way ticket, those decisions made consequences that can't be altered. Whatever the meaning, this is love song on the first place.

How can music ever be so ahead of its time? I used to listen to Jeff's songs through the 90-s and they seemed contemporary back then, and so they seem right now. Yes, you can hear the overtones of the 80-s in some places - but still those songs are from such a distant future.

It's1981. I'm eleven and have just gotten this LP as a Christmas present from my older brother. I'd already fallen in love with ELO when he had given me "Discovery" for the previous Christmas. I didn't know what it all meant, but I loved the way it all sounded. And I still do.

One of the first songs I ever remember hearing as a 5-year old in 1983. My parents threw me and my older brother in the back of my dad's Chevy with a bunch of blankets, his radio, and few casettes for our entertainment and drove us from Seattle to Disneyland. I probably had that album memorized front to back by the time we got there. Back when things were so uncomplicated.

Почему так мало просмотров, почему так мало лайков? Эта песня - лучшее из наследия 80х и сама по себе просто исключительна, это редкий шедевр. Так получилось, что и к моей юности она тоже имеет прямое отношение - её довольно часто крутили по радио в начале нулевых, я ловила её, чтобы записать на аудиокассету, и сколько было счастья, когда отец купил альбом ELO и записал мне эту песню в отличном качестве

Same here. A few years earlier and I may not have been so privileged and pampered that I grew up with expecting that I could make a living with a college education. No sarcasm. If someone/something had psychologically kicked my ass I may have worked a bit and would be coding instead of wishing I had the time to learn while working to keep us in lower-middle class. I have a position that is enviable in my small town, yet egregiously inane.

Heard this little known ELO song on Sirius radio and had to hear it again here on KZfaq. I've loved the works of Mr. Lynne for years and his songs continue to please me. Funny how a 4 year old could tell you who Mick Jagger is, but most people have never heard of Jeff Lynne, in my mind an artist with a stronger body of work....a travesty!

I'm just shy of 30 and elo is my fave band. Eldorado and time are my fave albums. Roy Woods mustard is actually a good listen too! It was nice to see one man write, compose, and make all the music on their own even produce it. Nowadays they have an army of writers, producers ect..

It was many years ago. What's good music! Voice like the Beatles, but mordern style. According this song I am danced firstly with my lovely❤❤❤❤❤ girl. Next time I am danced it again with her. 30 years later. Nothing changed love❤. Time too.
