Electric-scooter rental companies are hitting speed bumps in the U.S. over safety and other concerns. But in Tel Aviv, one in 10 residents has rented a Bird e-scooter, and the city appears to be embracing them. @Vylkeer
@Vylkeer 5 жыл бұрын
@K2 ahaha yeah I guess that's right. I was just trying to point out how preexisting 2-wheel vehicles like a motorcycle is more dangerous than the emerging eScooters that are extremely light, don't go over 40 kph and are getting better and better since micro mobility is a relatively new market segment and each year improved versions come out. People just need to be more careful and use them more consciously, that's all. The eScooter has the potential to drastically improve people's lives, if used correctly.

Vylkeer - Those who "study" once took Notice of the fact that things called "mo-peds" seemed to mix in fairly well with the automobile traffic. (They figured that their slow speed meant that the fellow behind the steering wheel actually could see them coming at an intersection; while the "True" motorcycle was often traveling fast enough that the car driver would explain to the Police Officer investigating the 'usual "turned left in front of" accident' said, "I didn't see him. It was like he came out of no-where.") A Lime Green vest should (probably) go along with that helmet. (Vehicle-to-vehicle "black boxes" should likely be part of a scooters Standard Equipment, also.)

I'm Israeli and I used a bionic kick scooter, maaan, you have no idea how practical it is in Tel Aviv but also in Jerusalem! The population is booming and also because of it the economy is booming. The overcrowded transportation is unbearable and due to the population growth it will be more unbearable every year. The Knesset should start legislating laws and initiating infrastructure projects (like the Netherlands) promoting alternative (bicycle) commute. Otherwise, it sucks, even for the rich, traffic jams are only one problem, finding cheap parking is the other. Even my wealthy friends have to take the overcrowded buses.

Electric scooters would actually help make public transportation feasible in parts of the US that previously would not have the density to support transit. Now transit agencies will have to switch to high frequency transit service on busy corridors and even long distance limited stop express ones with scooters and others feeding riders to the buses in fact slow local buses would become obsolete as scooters would replace those trips and in suburbia they will allow buses and trains to collect previously unreachable riders due to distance that means frequency rather than coverage becomes more important. So bye bye flex routing.

The difference between Israel and America on this and other issues. You see in Israel when a big foreign corporation or even Israeli corporation for that matter comes in and gives a service option for the public, it is usually widely welcomed as a gesture of public consideration and acknowledgement of the Israeli economy. But in America it's a different story because the average Joe is perceived as a target of the big corporations wanting to devour his money etc. So while in Israel we feel thankful to be acknowledged, in America people might feel stomped on and taken advantage of.

With people becoming more time poor and want instant results, impatience is always tempting them. You can't compare Israel to United States. It's a country where everybody must observe I'm just saying religious laws. The United States has 50 individual states. With its own Constitution. The fact that the entire country shuts down from Friday to Sunday morning. Makes it much easier and that there is literally no public transportation. There is no backlash in case you miss work because the entire country is shut down. Because 99.9% of his citizens are Israelis. So they are observing the same culture. Don't like you go let's say in Seoul Korea where people are still up shopping at 3 a.m. in the morning. Monday through Friday. So, I don't even understand how y'all thought that y'all could even compare the United States to Israel in terms of these scooters.

As someone who lived in both the u.s and israel the issue is not religion. In america everyone habe privet parking spots and driving abd owning a car is very cheap. While in israel especially in tel aviv parking is a real issue thay can cost you at list 30 minutes a day of searching for parking in the city center. Also fuel is ver expensive at 6nis per liter (about 6$ per gallon) Also buying and owning may be doubled the price for an equivalent model in the u.s . Thats why most young people in tel aviv dont own a car.

Why was the famous model not wearing protective gear or a least a helmet? Is like the argument that "motorcycles are dangerous", there are risks like in everything we do in life, but if you take a motorcycle safety course, buy and wear good quality protective gear, educate yourself, get enough experience and follow the law, it is very difficult you get in a bad situation, but because many want to ride shirtless, reckless and in flipflops really bad things happen and they call them "accidents"

The US is heavily built on decades of car infrastructure investment - the time we are able to embrace alternatives will be the time we’re brave enough to rebuild our cities for pedestrians, bikes/scooters, and transit. It’s happened in the past-massive overhauls to city infrastructure (first from horses/streetcars to cars/buses, then again with interstate highways and urban renewal)-so it’s definitely possible. Right now there’s little to no infrastructure for bikes/scooters in the US-too dangerous for car-made streets, & too dangerous for pedestrian sidewalks, which have already thinned from road expansion / street parking-and public knowledge and culture around bikes/scooters hasn’t reached its tipping point in the US. Glad to see an example of it being integrated here. Also look at Sevilla, Amsterdam, and Cuba for other examples. 🚲

In America I think that its not that we hate scooters, we hate what people do with the scooters, they leave them ever where, blocking the sidewalk, on peoples and business' private property, they pile up and look like garbage. Scooter drivers also don't understand that pedestrians have the right of way. To many scooter drivers attitude is me me me, I can do whatever I want and you have to deal with it. Nope we don't have to deal with it, show more respect for your fellow human beings and maybe they will not take out their frustration with you on the scooters your rubbing in their faces.

@Hey yo you have to go back much further. the christian religion only started 2000 years ago with jesus. so back than everyone was jewish in the area. there were no muslims in that area because islam didnt exist. islam only exists for 1600 years and started in mekka where mohammed presented the holy writings of god. it then spread towards the north. so if we look into history this land was 100% jewish, than 60%christian and when the muslims came they invaded it and killed all non believers. so its understandable that the jews want to get their land back since its theirs!!
