This is my electric wagon build. Power wagon. Every time I use a wagon, I am always lugging around heavy stuff. In my search for an electric wagon, I found out that only a few exist, and they are not CHEAP. This wagon build was super easy and a quarter of the price. Enjoy.

Zack, Thanks for the support. I wish I was set up to build these for clients, I have had quite a few people ask. If you have any questions or if you think I missed any details in the video that would make it easier, let me know and I'll see how I can help.

How does this video not have a million plus views? Finally through a lot of trial and error and ordering a lot of different kits, controllers and hubs I've got my actual system up and running. I will be installing it in my wagon soon. I now have a new problem. Do I install it in my perfectly good folding pull wagon which doesn't steer, or get a steerable wagon like yours so my kids can sit and steer the wagon for fun? I'm leaning towards a new wagon and will have to install a brake as well.

Hi Amandeep, Thank you so much for the comment, and I agree THIS video should have a million views. Just want to make a note that this video was for entertainment, I would not and do not recommend doing this and letting kids (or anyone) ride it, it could be dangerous for numerous reasons, and the wagon is not designed for passengers. I only let my kid ride it briefly under close supervision to show that the wagon does most of the work with little effort. With that being said, I chose the wagon with steering because having the ability to point the front wheels in a specific direction stops the wagon from constantly pulling only to one side.

Yup, the occasional ridding/driving by the kids would be under absolute strict conditions only.

Hi! I love this video! I noticed the material/equipment list shown early in the video. Is it an issue that the wheel is rated for 24 volts but the batteries in series adds up to 36v? Also, how would you connect two motorized wheels instead of one? Would i need a different controller and batteries? Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Thank you for the comment its much appreciated. First I just want to say I am not an expert or professional at these things. With that being said, (question 1) In the item's description it says that the wheel is rated for less than 36 volts, and I only use it on power setting 1 and 2. There is a good chance that when I am using it, it is closer to the 24 volts because I am using it on the lower power settings ( Power setting 4 & 5 is probably to much for the wheel to handle for more than a few minutes, especially with weight on it). I was on Amazon the other day and I noticed that they have an identical wheel that is rated for 36 volts and it is about the same price (maybe a better option) . (Question 2) I am not entirely sure about how to hook up 2 motorized wheels, however, I do have a drift Trike that I bought which has one power source (1 Set of batteries) and it is connected to two separate motor controllers which each go to a separate wheel, so for that reason I believe it is doable. Hope this helps.

Hi Richard- great video with precise directions! I'm handy, but electricity is not my thing, however with this video I can pull this off. Question: does the wheel float free, like neutral, so I can pull it if I run out of battery?
@modsjustin981
@modsjustin981 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yes, the wheel that I used spins freely if there is no power to it. So if the battery dies its just a regular wagon.

Thanks again for the video, I've now completed 2 powered wagons, one TMZ wagon that steers and one Costco Mac wagon which seem to have much better build quality. I ended up giving the Mac to a friend. On the TMZ build I ended up taking a brake lever and cable from one of the bikes my kids had outgrown and installed it on the drum brake that is included in the hub. Although I do let the kids steer the wagon under super strict direct supervision only, it's nice having the brake there as well for a quick stop. My kit came with an ignition lock which I wired into the box and keep the key in a secure place. I had to watch the part from 9:05 to 10:11 multiple times to figure out how you ran the wire in the handle. I noticed you installed the metal push clip upside down in the upper part of the handle, has that given you any trouble since the install?
@modsjustin981
@modsjustin981 11 ай бұрын
No Problem, you are super observant. Glad I inspired you. Yes I did install it upside down and I believe I had to trim it a little and put tape to protect the wire from cutting. It was a while though and I don't remember all the little details.

Thumbs up! Nice job.. I will try. Question, do I need a throttle control? Could I just plug it and go with the default speed?
@MrAmanW
@MrAmanW 11 ай бұрын
It's best to have a throttle. Default speed won't stay the same if you are on an incline and the wagon is loaded.

Thank you. I have not tried it on the beach yet. I think it will have a trouble in deep sand. It works decent on rock, but, a bit bumpy. I will definitely consider designing an easy to build electric beach cart in a future video though. Thanks for the interest.

Hi, so I am not well versed in diy mods but I try my best. Just to be sure, you used what voltage for your batteries? I heard you say in series. Is the wheel heavy? Thanks
@modsjustin981
@modsjustin981 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comments. First question, I believe you need a throttle control. Second question about voltage: I wired the batteries in a series to get 36v to the motor controller, however, I only use Power Setting 1 and 2 so I am not using the full 36v which is higher than the hub motor is rated. If your moving around something heavy constantly they make another wheel hub motor (which is almost identical) that is rated for the full 36v which might be a better option for you. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the video. I'm going to try to make one. I was wondering about the voltage. The wheel motor is marked 24 volt but it looks like you're set up supplies 36 volts?
@modsjustin981

Hey Richard, thanks for the question. First I have to say that I am not an expert or professional of any kind in this field. With that being said, that is the wheel that I bought and I have been running at 36v for about a year now, however, I only use it with power level 1 or 2 setting. It says in the description that it should be operated at less than 36v and is most likely under that on the lower power setting ( I am guessing though). It is possible that they changed the description on specifications over the last year also. I did do a quick search for you though and found that they do have an almost identical wheel that is rated for 36v. Check this one out if you want to play it on the safer side. " L-faster 36V 350W High Speed Hub Motor 8 inch Wheel Motor Scooter Brushless Hub Motor with Wheel Tyre Drum Brake Motor Wheel". Hope this helps and good luck.
