ABOUT COME TRUE:
High school student Sarah is at her lowest point yet when she runs away from home and finds herself with no one to rely on and struggling with recurring nightmares. She chances upon a university sleep study that offers the promise of safety and money and brings her an unexpected friend and confidant in the overseeing scientist Jeremy. But there’s something curious about proceedings and being under observation seems to make Sarah’s disturbing dreams even worse. As the darkness begins to close in, it’s soon clear that Sarah has unknowingly become the conduit to a horrifying, new discovery…
ABOUT ELECTRIC YOUTH:
ELECTRIC YOUTH is a Toronto-based duo consisting of Bronwyn Griffin (vocals, songwriter) and Austin Garrick (producer, songwriter, synthesizer, drums). Their initial breakthrough came in 2011 when their song “A Real Hero” was prominently featured in the movie DRIVE and went on to be nominated for 2012 MTV Movie Award in the category of “Best Music” and was named one of the 20 Best Songs of 2011 by Rolling Stone. Their second studio album “Memory Emotion” was released in 2019.
ABOUT PILOTPRIEST:
PILOTPRIEST is the music/composing moniker of Come True writer/director Anthony Scott Burns. Under this pseudonym, he has released a number of critically successful albums and EPs, including the cult vinyl hit “Original Motion Picture Soundtrack”, which was released on the celebrated soundtrack label Waxwork Records. He has just completed another upcoming soundtrack for the feature film “The Education of Fred Fitzell”, starring Dylan O’Brien (The Maze Runner) and Maika Monroe (It Follows).

LYRICS:
[Verse 1]
They can
Say what they say
But you need a heart
To have heart like you do
You're too
You're too careful
To truly not care
I don't believe that it's true
[Chorus]
Oh, you might shed some tears
But these modern fears
Won't hold you down
And Oh, it might take some years
But these modern fears
Won't be around
[Verse 2]
How can
You be modest
When you know that
That you're number one
I know
You're not over
Even if they think
This time you're done
[Chorus]
Oh, you might shed some tears
But these modern fears
Won't hold you down
And Oh, it might take some years
But these modern fears
Won't be around
[Chorus]
Oh, you might shed some tears
But these modern fears
Won't hold you down
And Oh, it might take some years
But these modern fears
Won't be around

Agreed, as ambiguous as the ending made the rest of the film. At first it seemed they hit horror gold with the idea of a shadow-being being the reason for why 40% of the World's Population has experienced sleep paralysis at least once in their lifetime, and 2/3 of that population attribute the actual episode(s) of paralysis to demonic or evil entities...the film was amazing still...

Film Come True. A very atmospheric, beautiful and unusual film with an excellent soundtrack in the spirit of 80s america. Yes, there are 2-3 sharp moments in the whole film, but it was shot perfectly. In the end, horror went through, goosebumps from fear for several tens of seconds. I haven't felt this for a long time, which means that the director's goal has been achieved))) An interesting experience in general. I advise)

Yeah this film was great! I agree about the sleep paralysis and night-terror part of the film. 40% of The World's Population has, or will, experience sleep paralysis at least once in their lifetime, and 2/3 of that population attribute a demonic or evil entity as the casue of the paralysis episode(s). The way the film set the course of events, it seemed they hit horror gold, that rare film that just delivers on all points- the soundtrack with its almost trance-like state of sound with deep synths and 80's esque beats, the romance that blossoms from her deep loneliness and his tension with the project. Moreover, the way the middle plot developed through the sleep study, that we learned that at some point every sleeping person somehow someway ends up seeing the same shadow-being. All of that was absolutely incredible, and then the ambiguous tone-shifting ending came, lol. Given the nature of the ending, coma, and that I myself have a very very close friend who he himself went through 1 year of being in a coma, it doesn't ruin the film for me though I can see a small number of viewers disliking the ending completely, as one can argue it negates the seriousness of the rest of the film, which in this case was so excellently built-up with a surprising level of intelligence. So none of it was real? Or did she go in a coma after sex? Or after the shadow-beings got her friends at the park? Or was the entire thing a dream in her coma? Very very ambiguous, lol, nonetheless amazing, beautiful, exciting and thought-provoking! ✊✊✊❤❤🙏🙏

@@xavierrodrigues4958 She woke up from one layer of dreaming. She is still in a coma and having Vampire teeth proves it. The shadow people are doctors and family who r trging to wake her up, the good guys. Vampire teeth is a memory she shared with her loved one when she was alive when both were cosplaying. U see the same in the other guys dream, which is the manifestation of her lover in her dream world. That is why she smiles.

@@shinankoku2 I don’t want to write a wall of text. But if you put together the Jungian themes, the runaway backstory, the sleep paralysis demon subtext, the ending perfectly fits and makes complete sense. The girl Sarah is not real and just a fragment of the person in a coma, we’re looking at the shattered psyche of the man/woman, running away from her awakening. Kinda funny contrast with the insomnia. Just so much is there to dig out and connect. It’s fantastic.
@shinankoku2
@shinankoku2 2 жыл бұрын
@@armand548yt feel free to write a wall of text. This movie deserves it. And those of us who love it (I’m guessing) are going to enjoy bouncing our theories off one another. I personally have a new theory about what’s going on - I essentially believe that Sarah is terrified of aging. In her own world she is immortal, which is finally manifested when she ‘becomes a vampire’. In my interpretation of the movie, the shadow men are the doctors trying to bring her back. In her mind they are specters of the reaper, trying to bring her back to a world of decay and eventual death. The sequences of ‘the other place’ represent the real world, the hospitals and institutions where her physical form presides. As she ‘sleeps’ her mind becomes more conscious (ironically) and she is more are of the world … which, again, her mind dresses up as a place of decay and death.

I've seen worse too, of course, but Drive is at the same time totally empty and pretentious, and it makes it perfectly despicable to me :). At least, most of movies who are even worse than this one have the good idea of being unpretentious, and are then better to me than Drive. I loved this movie when it came out on Hulu in (2019). And I now love this song this movie is like some king of Strange Things and 'Sara' is like a blind 'Eleven'. 😎

Track "Electric Youth" on Bandsintown They can Say what they say But you need a heart To have heart like you do You're too You're too careful To truly not care I don't believe that it's true Oh You might shed some tears But these modern fears Won't hold you down And oh It might take some years But these modern fears Won't be around How can You be modest When you know that That you're number one I know You're not over Even if they think This time you're done Oh You might shed some tears But these modern fears Won't hold you down And oh It might take some years But these modern fears Won't be around Won't be around Won't be around Won't be around Oh You might shed some tears But these modern fears Won't hold you down And oh It might take some years But these modern fears Won't be around Won't be around Won't be around Won't be around

Yeah this movie was amazing, though the end went in an entirely different direction than one would have assumed, lol. It seemed they hit horror gold with the sleep paralysis and night-terror theme, via the scientific discovery that all of humanity, at some point during the deepest stages of sleep, sees a shared vision of a shadow-being, that then shifts to the real world, and causes sleep paralysis. Then it was all dream, lol, or was it that she went into a coma after sex when the shadow was close? Or when she sleepwalked through the door of light, at the end? Either way, thought provoking, I have a best friend that did 1 year in a coma, and now he's a tree climber that cuts trees for residential properties, and some commercial properties, real facts ✊🙏✊ ✊🙏✊

@@xavierrodrigues4958 The whole movie was a coma dream with references to people who tried to wake her up and the incidents that caused her coma to begin with. Jeremy revealed the whole point of the program in the end: they are trying to wake people from coma by scaring them awake ("body rejects death in dreams - she wakes up"). The shadow beings were sent by the scientists/doctors to wake them up.
