@@ionelinzona unfortunately not. I completed my qualification and struggled for 5 months until I found and now finishing a welding apprenticeship for a national company working across the UK. I love it.

M sockets could be 2nd fixed on the same day. I’ve not tried this method before but it would definitely be a better finish.

If the idea is to make it easy for rewiring in the future, then surely continuing the whole length would make more sense? This way, the next electrician who looks behind the socket won’t have a clue the conduit is even there........ or from above......

we used to get £200 a day to strip, chase and rewire 2 bedroom flats, 2 man team £200 each, was a nightmare but the money was good lol

@@JamesLawlor probably, but its not what you know, its who you know. we would strip out and rewire on day 1 and fit out and test on day 2, was hard graft wouldnt recommend that as a working style unless you fancy dying at 40

Non-builder here, be gentle! Was wondering why he didn't chase down to the box as the drill chiseling the last bit looked like a pain and seems to go against the statement that the conduit is protecting against acids etc. What is the issue with chasing down to the box? More difficult to fix everything to the wall or ??

It's not required to earth the backbox if there is a fixed lug but it's generally considered good practice to do so (means if eg a decorator takes the sockets off to paint the backbox is still earthed)

I’ve never understood this fly lead stuff. The back box is earthed through the socket screws. If the socket pins are removed for decoration, then there is almost no risk of the back box becoming live. I think this practice goes back to the old metal back bones with the plastic lugs which haven’t been installed for 60:years. Same with the brown sleeving. An electrician would understand the difference between a blue switched live and a blue neutral and anyone who doesn’t has no business working on an electrical installation and wouldn’t understand what the brown sleeving meant.

@@southseaelectrics6236 What if the grommet was pulled out of the back box as the decorator removes the socket, as he does so he nicks a wire, back box now live and un-earthed.

Tried it today works a treat with 3 not to well with 4.

We use both oval and round in UK. Domestic usually use oval or metal capping for chases. Commercial or industrial never use oval conduit.

From Northern Ireland too and always track 20mm conduit right into the box. Makes it full rewirable in the future without having to track out old capping

The difficulty in a lot of houses is the walls aren't thick enough, so chasing in 20mm round conduit in domestic settings takes out more depth of wall/leaf thickness than building regs allow

Chris B he doesn’t mean it’s a solid core when he says it’s a 1.5 single stranded, it’s a stranded “single” as in a a single core on its own but it’s made up of strands of copper

Warren Ashcroft boot lace ferrules are for fine stranded. But to be honest they are a joy for tri rated singles make a much better job, maybe over kill for a fly lead but each to their own
