If you do not, keep a journal of all the video topics you do. It might come in handy if you ever decide to do this for other countries as a template. I wish there was someone like you for every country out there.

We consume 4700 kW*h/year for two adults. I cannot understand what is the problem to get actual figures monthly and pay accordingly. Such a big value due to cold winter, as gas boiler for central heating and hot water is switched ON more than six months per year. In my country each family has it own electricity counter and each month you get kW*h figure, calculate using the price and pay. If you do so, then there is no under- or overpay in the end of year. Voila. P.S. We have no possibility to choose electricity provider, only one - state provider with low price.

I'm always impressed with how you always choose super important subjects and how much information is conveyed in the videos. You are to be congratulated!💞 If is not much to ask, if possible, for the next videos, one of them could be about water providers and water quality, please! I live in Spain and the water here is not so good but the water provider that we signed up is very good. But the energy providers are terrible, we had problems with 2 energy providers. Now we signed up with a 3rd energy provider, and finally we found a good one and the energy is clean. So, I think this kind of subjects are very, very, very important to all of us. Thank you again ❤ 🤗🤗🤗

Since I recently moved back to Germany I had to re-learn these things. Although I picked a provider I liked in time, I still ended up in the „Grundversorgung“ bc my landlord had submitted my data instead of theirs for a brief period of the flat being empty between rental contracts. Didn’t help me much that this is illegal. I’m still trying to sort this out mostly bc I don’t want to stay with electricity from mostly coal.

One or two topic to point out on (local) Grundversorger : many / most of them have two models: Base - Fare (Grundtarif) as mentioned and also acting with fare plans like other providers. F.E. in Munich you can choose btw Green-electricity and other fares. And Stadtwerke may also provide services in other regions. So even If you stay at your local (Grundversorgunger) provider allways check their price models.

Thank you so much for your contents. Your videos have actually helped me to settle in 'smoothly'. I came here 2 months back. My landlord suggested to continue with the local provider and I didn't bother much as there were so many initial works to do. I haven't received any bill yet. Now seeing your video I am planning to sign a contract with one of the private provider. My doubt is can I ask the private provider from the day I moved in or the day I sign my contract?
@simplegermany
@simplegermany Жыл бұрын
As far as we know, you cannot pay 'past' invoices with new providers. So you would start paying your fees with the new provider from the day you sign the contract and from the reading of your electricity meter on that day.

Another amazing video, you both rock! Im coming from smart meters and generating power from remote solar farms while living in apartmwnt housing and here in sunny Frankfurt, I see energy meter from 1995!!😂 That was a bit of cultural shock :) @simplegermany , can you tell me where to read on how to just get smart meter for my apartment asap?

What do you mean by smart meter? Can you please give more details? Out of curiosity, which country do you come from? ☺️
@bjorn6530
@bjorn6530 7 ай бұрын
That's unusual as the calibration period ("Eichfrist") for energy meters is 16 years. After that time they have to be replaced. This is in responsibility of the "Netzbetreiber" which is not necessarily your electricity provider. Besides that "digital" energy meters (I don't want to write smart meters) are used more and more, there is no real benefit, as the price for electricity is always the same (over the whole day).

Hi, thank you so much for your information. I moved to my new flat almost 4 months ago and I didn't sign up to an electricity provider yet and as far as I understood it should be with the city basic provider but how should I cancel this with them and sign up to a new provider?

Hello, thank you for all your videos. In this case, I would like to ask if an IBAN account from an EU country is enough for signing up or if it must be only german. Thanks
@simplegermany

There is a law that there should be no IBAn discrimination, so that other European SEPA accounts should be accepted. However, we do know that for some services German bank accounts are required by some providers.

When signing up to a new provider the electricity is never turned off. After you sign the contract it is quite fast that your new provider is the new company. It’s a smooth transition.

In Germany multiple electricity companies provide to all homes and people get to choose which one they want? I doubt this but you gave little context on distribution, a little clarification would help.

@eddie: There are some providers "working" germany wide. (Which does not mean that they have electricity cables all over germany.) While there are other (smaller) providers who work more or less locally.
