To think this is at the end of a three hour show and they are pushing 60 here. Alex's last name is Lifeson. Banger performance! I chuckled when I saw you do that with your fists and knowing Neil does it at the end of the song. Yes, I have watched this many times and I love it every time I see it.
@AlexRubbo
@AlexRubbo 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, I'm being a bit pedantic. His real name, ie. on his birth certificate, is Aleksandar Živojinović. In English his Serbian surname translates into 'Lifeson'.. Trust me on this one. I've never met Alex, but I did meet his parents once at a funeral...

And that's how they ended a 3 hour show with a 30-song set list. Not just that night, but every night on tour. They were almost 60 when this was recorded, and they still had the energy to bring it like that. They were the best live band I've ever had the chance to see. When you're ready, you'll have to strap in for the 20-minute long epic 2112. I'd do it with a lyric video so you can follow along with the cool sci-fi story. If you want a shorter song, give Red Barchetta a go - it's a song about a car. Cheers!

A radio DJ in Cleveland started playing Working Man on the radio in '74, no one had heard of Rush in the U.S., the station started getting a deluge of calls requesting the song for months....and the rest, as they say...so Cleveland holds a special place for Rush

What's interesting about Rush's live performances is the respect they have for each other. Nobody, in their reactions, seems to have picked up on this. They bow to each other after a good 'rift'. At the end of a song both Alex and Geddy tend to go straight to Neil to finish the song. This particular video shows that.

Quite a difference hearing “Working Man” from that first album, before Neil joined, to this pinnacle performance in Cleveland in 2013-ish. In the city where they first got some decent radio airplay in 1974, with this song.

Great reaction to the song performed in the town that made them famous! This song (the original is a little different) was changed up with the reggae bit, just for fun on this tour, but really showed their chops!! In this video from 2011, they’re still rocking Cleveland (and everyone) nearly 40 years later! Monster Musicians and rocking out from the time they were signed in 1974 (and before, they formed in 1968 with different drummer) to the time they retired in 2015… 40 yrs later!! Best band ever!! Keep em coming… #RUSHFAMILY will be here to watch!! God Bless… from Texas!!

Born in 1970 Such a great and humble band I got a little teary eyed( Damn and I’m 6’4 260 lol) watching this moment for RUSH what a great and humble band…I remember when my journey started with Rush as an 11 year old in 1981 hearing Tom Sawyer for the first time..then I had a friend who said there is so much more, he came over my house with his older brothers copies on vinyl of 2112 and Farewell to Kings the next Saturday and the journey began and I became a lifelong fan…loved being a kid in the 70’s and a teen in the 80’s .a great time to be alive hard to explain if you weren’t there but it was special…not time is perfect but I really enjoyed my time

NOBODY can do it like Rush! Look at their stage set-up! NO AMPS behind either one of them. Time Machines...even Geddy's washing machines are upgraded to match everything. At least a million bucks for drum kit, stage set-up, labor, engineering, lasers, lights etc. Hell, maybe a couple of million! Like I've said before..."It's like a jungle sometimes...!" 🙈🙉🙊

Another amazing performance by Rush is "Natural Science" at Molson Amphitheater in 1997. I'd highly recommend reacting to this version of the song but have the lyrics available also because the lyrics on "Natural Science" are some of the deepest, most meaningful lyrics Neil Peart ever wrote.

Great reactions mate. Have you tried 'The Garden' yet? Last song on their last album. It's basically their 'swansong'. Written by Neil it's a reflection on life and I think draws on the tragedy in his life when he lost his daughter (car accident) and partner (cancer) within 6 months of each other..
