Seriously, 3 hours in lab and nothing. This guy gives a 2 minute intro, and I can do the whole lab by myself. Teachers are really just paper graders. Why do we even need to go to class? We don't. We only need them to grade our papers. Teachers are a waste of valuable student time. I could be doing homework or working at my job getting paid with that 3 hours wasted in class.

My teacher has a whole quarter to teach this but students still don't get it. If I show them this video . They would definitely not hate chemistry anymore.

Super helpful, as always. Just one thing that confuses me, why is (in the case of Fe2+) the 4s orbital the highest energy orbital? I thought the electrons are placed in the orbitals from lowest energy orbital to highest energy orbital and that was the reason for not filling the orbitals "in order" from 1 to 4.

Just add the small numbers and always start with 1s² until it sums up to the atomic number of the element U have to follow the order btw. (So u gotta memorize/familiarize urself w it) so for example u gotta get the electron config of OXYGEN, the atomic number of it is 8 so we gotta add those lil numbers till it sums up to 8. we start w 1s² and follow the order like in the video, so: Oxygen/O²= 1s² 2s² 2p⁴ Try it urself, add them small numbers and see if u got 8. If u got 8 it means this electron config is right. So remember to not add the whole number or the big numbers and u don't gotta do anything w the letters beside them. just the exponents or small numbers on the top right. Remember u can change the small number like in oxygen's electron configuration, it was 2p⁴ instead of 2p⁶. We changed it to 2p⁴ BCS if u zont u won't get the sum of 8. So again follow the order. Starts with 1s² until it sums up to whatever atomic number. Usually the atomic number is given so all u gotta do is add. Another thing to remember. You can only CHANGE the small numbers ONCE and it's supposed to be changed in the LAST. u can't JS change the small number to whatever number u want to make things faster. U gotta follow the order of it till it sums up to the atomic number: 1s² 2s² 3p⁶ 3d¹⁰ 4s² 4p⁶ 4d¹⁰ 4f¹⁴ and so on. Another ex: Find the electron configuration of potassium We gotta get the atomic number first. so JS get the periodic table or if u have it memorized that's fine too. So the atomic number of potassium is 19. Now we can start adding and find the electron configuration: 1s² 2s² 2p⁶ 3s² 3p⁶ 3d¹ See how we changed the small number of the last one? 3d¹ instead of 3d¹⁰. u can change the last one to whatever number just don't go over the original number in the actual electron config So if ur last is 2s² you can change it to 2s¹ only. If ur last is 2p⁶ u can change it to 2p¹, 2p², 2p³, 2p⁴, 2p⁵ only. U can't just go 2p⁹⁹.Follow the chart of the electron configuration. So the S are =2 max The P are =6 max The D's are =10 max The F's are= 14 max If ur gonna change the small number make sure u don't go over these numbers. I hope this helped cuz I lit wrote this for idek how long 💩 @@humairawaheed1944
