This thing is a royal pain in the ass to learn and figure out! Thank you for the video. I figured out one push record if you set the option in the personalizations menu under Project settings Systems menu. Reading the manual is required for Elektron gear.

Top notch job my friend. Just took delivery of this model today (15.02.19) and it’s flying away with all my patients. Trying to get audio from the box took me sone hours to work out. Should have came here first. Been trying to get audio in, still not got that far but I will be setting the memory the way you did. It’s another day tomorrow.

I feel like my inspiration would be gone long before I actually sampled anything. Oh how I want a Digitakt with stereo sampling, seperate outputs and time & pitch. There's my dream machine.

In all fairness once you learn this stuff it's not bad...Yeah, the first week or so you won't be able to have any quick, inspiring, easy-workflow moments. But then you learn how to sample stuff and you can just do whatever. I just got mine like a week and a half ago lol.

good job on mentioning the key combos you are using to get to each function or page. SOOOO many Octatrack tutorials are like speedruns. They don't narrarate how they do anything. They just do it. Okay now we just sample (blur of fingers) and slice it (what did he press?)

1:13 you are instructing about enabling "quick record" option. I also notice the "Cues mutes trk" is enabled. Why so or what is that doing for your settings in this video? Thank you.

for some reason when I get to the part where I hit 'AED' to view the waveform after recording, it is saying EMPTY SAMPLE SLOT. I do not know why perhaps someone can help?

In the editing slice window, my sound from recorded samples looks like tiny squares instead of a sound wave. How to I change that?

If you sure about correctness of gain settings on recording, then just use D and F encoders to change waveform zoom in octatrack’s audio editor.

Is there a way to arm a track to begin recording when a threshold kevel is detected? Like every other "normal" sampker?

This was a great slow tutorial, but I don't know why I can't hear my recording, I can hear my beats when I play them from my device. My top left is also a S not a F something I noticed!

"S" = Static machines are perfect for handling extremely large samples. Samples assigned to Static machines are streamed from the Compact Flash card, thus their size can be in the order of gigabytes.

"F" = Flex machines offer the most extensive sound manipulation possibilities. A sample used by a Flex machine is loaded to the RAM memory of the Octatrack MKII.

Open the QUICK ASSIGN menu by quickly double pressing the [TRACK] key of the track you wish to assign a machine to. If the track contained a Flex machine the Flex sample slot list will be opened. If the track contained a Static machine the Static sample slot list will be opened. Press the [LEFT] arrow key to access the machine list. In all other cases the machine list will be accessed directly when opening the QUICK ASSIGN menu.

I've had this idea that it's better to record half tempo to the Octa. Say 55 bpm in Octa for a 110 bpm sample. Is this good, or just creating sound quality issues?

I don’t understand why elektron makes it such a pain in the ass with no clear info on their machines. Their machines are really powerful but the information they provide for their machines are terrible. I’m considering selling my digitakt because the ability to chop a sample on that thing is terrible. I’m considering an octatrack but do i really want to relearn a machine that’s obviously better than a digitakt with the company’s lack of info provided to get started.
