Element gatekeeper kit hits the rocks for the first time. This is an awesome ULTRA4 style RC crawler with a cage that mounts to a C channel chassis. Straight axles, coil overs and trailing arms. Excited to try out my first kit and element RC at the same time.

As someone who owns all the element trucks including a couple custom built elements, I suggest slam it as low as possible, drop the cage put on a cliffhanger body toss on some brass, a soft trailing arm spring, and 2.2s

I had the Trailrunner which was a really nice built rtr. Felt very high quality and performed very well. Probably more trail truck without mods

Good stuff mate... always cool to tinker and tune a new rig. Still building my Gatekeeper, I've actually stretched mine in the front a bit more and moved the belly, motor and trans forward to improve the cage proportions and hopefully performance.... custom made my shock towers and panhard mount, links etc and servo location. Always enjoy your videos. Cheers 👍

Element makes simple, competitive trucks. I turned my GK into an Ecto immediately. I love the look of the cage but handles quite differently with my Creep body and the long wb. Great vid 👍

I highly recommend CBE link risers! I run them and my truck out performs gspeed and Sherpa chassis . I’m running servo on axle and trx4 axles . It’s a hell of a machine

I think making a comp crawler or a preforming crawler out of a redcat gen8 would be fun to watch, i suggest droop suspension with no springs at least with the stock body, the stock body is super heavy.

Interesting rig. I can see its a bit top heavy, it behave like my rigs do haha. I've been eyeing up the Element Trailwalker f0ro a while now. I love the retro look to the body. But with 3 running (barely) rigs and anouther 3 or 4 custom rigs being built from ground up I've got enough on my hands...

Same here, link is dead. Pretty cool rig. I don't have an element in my stable yet but it's on the maybe list. It is a toss up between this and a Gen8 axe edition.

I really like mine. It's been pretty heavily upgraded now with alot of aluminum. 3300kv Axe system. You got some fabulous shots of that horizon.

@@westdesertwheeler2666 all of em'. All chassis braces were replaced with STRC black aluminum braces. Shock towers are still stock hard plastic but I've finally found some aluminum plate replacements that actually lower the cage a few mm. Black Samix alum diff covers, link mounts and driveshafts. Hot Racing transmission case and center skid with all metal gearing. SSD black alum c-hubs with brass knuckles and rear axle weights. Riding on VP Method 310 wheels (black) wrapped in RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja Pro-X 1.9 tires. Beeftubes axles. And I'm probably leaving out something. I also have a Trailwalker done almost the same in gunmetal grey with a HH Torquemaster esc and Magnum 11t motor. Imo, Element makes one of the best platforms to build with. I'm thinking of starting a SMT10 this fall. I only have the two crawlers so I just wanted them to be nice and they do what they do very well. Thanks for asking about it. @@shadow7796 I’m awaiting my Gatekeeper kit. I’d love to hear your thoughts on what immediate parts I should I get for the build to lower the CG and widen it some? Bear in mind this is my first kit and I don’t have the skills to fab or print stuff.

@@ibringdasmoke I should really add that I converted my Gatekeeper to a servo on axle instead of the servo being mounted on the chassis. I did that specifically to help lower the center of gravity, probably the best thing I've done so far that yields an immediate improvement. Got the mount kit from Scale Metal supplies. The mounting tabs are aluminum Axial Wraith tabs from Amain. It deletes the need for a panhard link which will get rid of any bump-steer that affects the steering. You also need a 65mm steering link with ends, got mine from Club-5 Racing along with an extra front upper suspension link because the conversion allows for a 4 link setup in the front for strength and extra suspension travel. Basically, it lowers the servo down to the top of the axle housing which my Gatekeeper desperately needed to help offset the hight and weight of the cage. In my opinion it was well worth it and everything bolted on with no modifications or issues.

Just a heads up your trailing arm's are mounted to the wrong part of the axle. They are meant to be on the outside with a spacer where you have yours mounted. It's not at all obvious in the manual but if you look at the exploded rear axle view in the back of the manual you can clearly see how it's supposed to be.

You should try the NSDRC RS800 V2 direct power servo. Tons of power and really quiet

I run the HH 6 shooter 2300 with a copperhead ESC on 4S and that motor acts like it’s got FOC super smooth and it doesn’t stall as easy,I have the HW axe 2300 and love that also!

If you run a BEC with that savox monster servo it has even more power. I have 2 in my trx4 and capra running on 8.4V which should be almost 1000 oz/in if you have the same monster torque servos as I do

Your trx4 sport would wheel around that one. I think the element enduro ecto would be a better crawler. They missed the point on center of gravity on this one. Nice rig tho it’s still fun to watch

How did you manage to build it completely Stock? I always have to change something. My first Element was an Ecto and it really crawls but I like the way the Trailing Arms make it Jump or Hop to get up on stuff. Now I got that same kit also.

Bought one for my dad. The plastic was very brittle and the chassis was not very firm. However, I have some buddies who have element trucks and they seem to work well.

Not so much same length on panhard . Its more just matching angle , but still gonna have bump steer on higher speeds .

What do you think? Gatekeeper or Wendigo for my first kit? Planning on an AXE system? Looking for more of a rock racer than a crawler.

@@westdesertwheeler2666 I really wanted a kit to build, and it doesn’t look like there’s a Bomber kit. And the Bomber looks even more top heavy than the Wendigo. The Capra seems it will always be a crawler no matter what you do to it. I wish there was a Rock Rey still, ideally in kit form.

A bomber is much more stable than a Wendigo. The Wendigo is almost a monster truck. The biggest downfall I have with Wendigo is the steering angle. It’s really bad. The element gatekeeper is a fun truck I just am not sure it’s great going very fast. So I’d say bomber or gatekeeper

If you want it to perform you need to get the soft front springs and also pen spring the front only get some shock keys lower the rig also specially in front and add just little weight in front and this rig will amaze you …. Next step ditch the cage and get a light body
