Cool! You’ll have a blast. I usually run 20-22psi. I know people say to go lower but that’s what I run. Gives me a little more clearance, less likely to loose a bead, and if my compressor takes a shit I can still drive it on the road.

Thanks! Congrats on your new rig. I have RCI full steel skids. I don’t recommend them as one of the welds broke the first time I used them and when I called they refused warranty or fix them. They also don’t coat them well. I’ve had to repaint them several times and they keep rusting really bad. I do recommend my RSG sliders they have held up way better! Our 4Runner will be used mostly as my wife for her daily use, but we want to be prepared. Appreciate the insights into RCI. At present, leaning towards BudBuilt. They have a 1/8" steel option (lighter than normal), but probably suitable for what we need and beyond. God Bless and safe driving.

@chedlejano10024 жыл бұрын
oh and a shout out to me and Tracy as we follow you lol
@jimerinrose62354 жыл бұрын
Hi Ched, Sure I can make a video. I use the rear lockers on steep rocky inclines. Especially if one of the rear tires doesn’t have much traction. It’s my favorite of all the nannies. I’ve been dead stuck, hit the locker and up I go. Atrac is like traction control. It stops a spinning tire to allow more power to go to tire that is on the ground. When your rear locker is on Atrac mostly helps with the front wheels. It’s my second favorite nanny. Crawl control is great when you’re are getting all four tires spinning and not making any forward progress. It gives each wheel the right amount of power with losing the least amount of traction. Terrain select I don’t use much and really haven’t noticed much of a difference. I try to drive the vehicle with the least amount of nannies as it makes more of a challenge. But when it risk doing damage to the truck or I’m not making any forward progress I call on a little help from the magic buttons. Lol

Hitting Elephant Hill in September for my 50th bday. Running a 2008 T4R v8 with a 2.5 OME lift, Stock sized KO2s, Sliders and Oilpan skid. Your video has been indispensable for me since it's one of the few that shows a reasonably lightly modified 4runner doing the trail. Our rigs are not too different so I think this gives me some idea of what to expect from my truck when running this. Thanks for the amazing work and consider me sub'd.

You're channel should be purchased by Toyota for advertising purposes:) no blah blah blah. How did it compare to Hells Reveng? Going back next year and have to pick a couple trails to do. I'm running a totally stock trd version color and all no mods. Drove through Hells Reveng with just a few scuffs. No damage at all. Looks possible with careful line selection. Was that cold patch on some of the steep inclines? Thanks for the great video!!!!
@jimerinrose62354 жыл бұрын
Brandywine Maintenance 😂 Thanks That would be nice! Maybe they could throw in a couple spare 4Runners too!😎 I would rate Elephant hill a little harder than the main trail at Devils Revenge. It just has a lot more uneven rocks instead of smooth slick rock. The trail is in Canyonland national park so they do maintain the trail to make it passable using concrete and cold patch in some of the steeper sections. I would rate Poison Spider even harder than the other two. It’s not maintained as well and you have to spend more time picking good lines. All three are rated 6’s. If you search on-line under Moab trail ratings you’ll find a lot more info on the trails and what they recommend for vehicles. If your stock I think you could do elephant hill but you’re going to be scraping bottom. With a 3inch lift and 285’s my steel skids took some unavoidable hits. There are a ton of trails out there. Chicken Corners is a lot easier but we had just as much fun. Let me know how it goes. 😉👍

Brandywine Maintenance My Pleasure. This is a really good book www.amazon.com/Guide-Moab-Backroads-4-Wheel-Drive-Trails We used it a lot in Moab. These rigs are super capable stock the ground clearance is the only limitation I experienced. I’m super happy with my set up and would highly recommend it. You can always tie a rope to the rock sliders to help your daughter get in. 😂 My sidekick/wife does do a awesome job she’s a trooper!! We have a blast off-roading and making these videos.

Better skid plates, and a set of sliders and you’ll be fine. Just take your time, and get out to check your line when you’re in doubt.

@@PineBarrens75 I will be looking for sliders. Was able to drop the gas tank "skid pan" and it easily was pressed back out using a bottle jack and the weight of the truck at the hitch point. Flattened it right out. It was definitely a workout at fins and things and Hells Reveng. I will be looking for Elephant Hill Trail for sure. Happy trails!

I thought sure you would leave those running boards somewhere on this loop. I broke my left running board on the Silver Stairs. They’ve sissified this whole road by pouring concrete at strategic places. Guess they got tired of rescuing people.

I destroyed my factory running board a long time ago, those are steel sliders if I lost those I would have left my frame too! Lol 😂 I was told me they charge $1,500 to recover vehicles there, maybe that’s why they added the concrete.

Any reliability issue after the 3inch lift? Thingking of getting 4runner, I heard that its best not to lift 4runner over 2.5"? Great video, I really enjoy it!
@jimerinrose62354 жыл бұрын
Rodney Horsan Thanks! No issues, caused by the lift. Remember if you add steel skids and sliders your 3inch lift is probably going to drop down a little. Truck drives way better than stock. I did add adjustable upper control arms. To help with alignment. +4 caster. After I did research I decided not to do the diff drop. The only front end part that has given me issues is the lower control arm bushings. They did not fail but I started getting a clunk when I used them hard and found to much play. I just put factory ones back in next time might upgrade to aftermarket bushings or lower control arms. Truck has 55k miles lift was done around 10k. Lots of hard off-road use since new. Love this truck, and would recommend it to anyone! 😉👍
