Does anyone else feel a sense of awe and wonder when they think of elephants? I mean, they're so amazingly huge, like a fantasy creature made reality. This one just chews on a whole watermelon like we would a gumball.

Lord on high, yes. If we discovered them millions of years from now, we'd be as fascinated with them as dinosaurs. The only reason why we think they're mundane is because they're a familiar sight to us. To peoples such as the Romans and later Europeans, elephants were creatures of alien and remote beauty, and they were amazed when they saw them. To us, of course, living in our era of aloof understanding of many things on Earth, elephants seem like just another animal, fascinating, but still average. You have to imagine what it's like to see one after being used to seeing little more than squirrels, deer, and the occasional bear.

@@georgiykireev9678tusk is not an indication of sex in elephants though. although it is common for males to have tusks, only a handful of them today have tusks. Some race has tusk for both male and female too

For the wondering why she’s taking forever to eat it, she’s trying to savor everything and not waste anything. You see how she’s fidgeting with it in her mouth, she’s trying to fit it in so the juice wouldn’t spill out. She could easily crush that melon like how hippos do … but hippos waste watermelons lol

@@JonHop1 Elephants have a bite force of 2,200 PSI, that's stronger than a lions bite, teeth or not, if it wanted to the watermelon would be crushed to pulp this elephant more than likely knows how watermelon juices spill out and was trying to save it from happening. The fact that it softly broke open the watermelon to get all the juice rather than straight chomping and wasting some shows.

No. They have strong jaws. They aren't carnivorous so they aren't made to crush flesh and bones but they can crush watermelon easily.

There's an actual scientific term for it, yeah, but I can't remember it off the top of my head. It's a sense in the brain that lets you know the position of all of your body parts in relation to each other without even needing to look.

Seen similar with elephants and durian in Thailand. They’d step on it to crush it, then gobble it up. Amazing strength and so cool to watch. I love these beautiful, majestic mammals! 💙
