I finally upgraded from a laptop with an audio interface and a pair of speakers to a fully customized home recording studio. The whole process took me around 2 months, but I actually spent more time planning and researching than building the studio. The acoustic treatment together with the wooden wall create a perfect combination of well balanced acoustics and coziness.
As the whole idea was designed without previous clue of how was the treatment going to affect the sound in the room, I was worried that I could end up having issues in some frecuencies. However, the studio has quite a flat response, having just a tiny boost at around 60Hz (low frequenciess are always the most difficult to treat). I will work on smoothen them out.
I hope this video gives you inspiration and ideas for your own home studio. โœŒ๏ธ

Hey man, Looks really cool but you literally put a ton of time and effort into not improving the sound of your room. You didnโ€™t take care of low end by bass trapping and ultimately just deadened the high end makin your room a boxy mess. I hope anyone who wants a great sounding room for a studio to work in doesnโ€™t copy.

@@JarrodHeadleyOfficial Yeah, you will just end up having a bunch of bass bouncing around forever. With the addition of only having absorption for the higher frequencies, its just makes the bass even more pronounced. Typically if your building fiberglass based sound absorption panels, which is the cheapest and pretty effective, you need at least a 4" deep panel to start getting below 100Hz where the bass lives. He's managed to sound PROOF quite a bit with the super dense sheeting, but inside that room itself will be a bit of a disaster I would imagine.

Great effort bro... But use rockwool for the insulation and thickness matters. Build 5-6 inch thick panels for the walls and atleast 8 inch for the corners( bass traps) . Also could have stood ur desk on the side of the window. Right now you'll get uneven frequency distribution on ur right and left side. If u put ur desk on the side of your window that way the sound from ur speakers will first hit the wall behind you which will hopefully absorb most of it and by the time it reflects back to the window and then to u... It will be minimal.

just a short issue I saw at first glance: the "eary reflection space area" left and right between speakers and your ears should aborb as much as possible to kill any possible reflections in that area. (take porous absorber materials max. 5000 flow resisitvity! (not more - otherwise u reflect again some fq.) - so maybe change the middle wood slate between 80cm and 160cm above ground to a broadband absorber and U will be amazed ;) to get the bass right - there is much more effort to take at all... I'm taking measurements since early 2021 to get my mixing suite right to DIN norm for broadcast purposes. (finetone audio suite) beside of that - great job in terms of design!

You need more thickness to control bass freq. and also you should cover all of your insulation with more reflective material. Even with your fabrics, you should seek more of an absorb fabric. All in all, liked your woodworking.

I see no acoustic measurements, no impulse response of that room, no low frequency management. What was that again? A nice looking room? Don't spread missinformation about home studios. The fact that it has home in the title doesn't mean it is no studio at all. The proper way is finding your room modes, position your speaker and your listening position given the modes and measure. Once u measure the impulse response, you will see what frequencies you need to treat. Find the T60 or T30/T20 reverb times. Measure again after treatment. See if it works. Add treatment if further needed. And here u have your home STUDIO!

While this looks great, youโ€™ll get little to no reduction of noise from outside in or inside out when you couple the wall to the wood on the inside. The best way to put a wall like you did is to glue it all together with some form of a semi soft drying glue like silicone. The flooring wonโ€™t do you any favors with a laminate stick down you need to lift the flooring up and float it and the ceiling is the same thing. I doubt you want to tear it all down and start over so Iโ€™m really leaving this for the next guy that comes along. The corners of your room need something like super dense foam as a bass trap. What is there wonโ€™t do anything. Oh, if split (not cut) cedar shingles are affordable to you it will be much nicer of a sound than pine. Rather than carpet pad, there is 4x8 sheets of insulation that wouldnโ€™t cost much different than what you spent for pad.

How is it performing now ? The material you used as acoustics is for isolation, not for absorption. It will reflect frequencies all around the room.
@colocespedes9973
@colocespedes9973 3 ะถั‹ะป ะฑาฑั€ั‹ะฝ
Actually it has some absorption happening, as the insulation pannels he shows in 1:27 are made out of rockwool and cloth, those materials do have a very good attenuation coefficient for absorption. But I get what you mean, the wooden part reflects the sound bumping onto it.

You do know that all that you did with the walls has zero effect on noise insulation and treating your room right ... lots of money and time wasted, I hope you had fun doing it though, it does look awesome! Now place bass traps where needed and do something about that window like placing a transparent curtain in front of it if you want the light to alleviate the high end resonance it's going to create.
@f_USAF-Lt.G
@f_USAF-Lt.G 2 ะถั‹ะป ะฑาฑั€ั‹ะฝ
The acoustic absorption materials placed in the corners subtracts from "room bass frequencies," and I noticed you tried to get all relevant corners_leaving some floor. Still (with absorption curtains,) your first set of frequency tests should be without curtains up... All other tests are done as for testing placements & testing amounts of curtains. After those tests_then find perfect pitch scales in the room, for specific microphone placements (with the instrument in the room,) and the best part about that is you're using a tuner๐Ÿ˜

I'd recommend you to get bookshelves, and put stuff there like books, plants, toys, or anything you have around. If it's messy it would be better, because the purpose of it is to act as sound diffuser, and it works really good. Maybe get a couch/bed in the room, or absorbent panels like the ones I set on the ceiling. You can also try to make your own acoustic panels to put around (there are many DIY videos online about it). Good luck!

De only place mid and high reflect is the window and de window is nog New! only the low frequency region is reflected and this space through the floor and hold. the mid and high are really only reflected at the window, since the window is not symmetrical Do you get a wrong placement of sound and reflection from the window!
