It is common today to ask questions about 'what is the value of generative AI?' There are numerous debates about the economic impact of this new technology, with governments opening their wallets to support AI development, consultancy groups clambering to hype the future growth prospects, and board rooms discussing whether it’s all worth the investment. This talk, however, will ask a slightly different question - not what is the value of generative AI, but rather where is the value of generative AI? This is ultimately a question about power - about who is capturing the economic value of artificial intelligence and about what this might mean for the future of the global economy.
