Very impressive 👍🏻 I live in a small cottage and had a similar idea but putting a small addition on the outside with a door to the inside. Now I can see that it will work, thank you. 😊

Excellent capt. My grandfather built one and had it in his house for years. Hand operated and was some kinda slick. Love seeing content from you 👍

Capt. John's Bar it was pretty slick , took him maybe 60 seconds to haul up a box bout the size of yours by hand. First and only time I've ever seen one, till your vid. Either way, good build 👍

The county, now that's a hike. Watch out for the carpenter ants. They will love the basement.

@@CaptJohnsBar well it is a cool idea anyway because it will save you space next to the fireplace and if you spend your money right it can be worth it at the end

*those winches are crap! hope you don't plan on it lasting that long. you may want to look into a good cheap Harbor Freight one or check ebay and amazon for a 3,000-4,000 pound real winch then you don't have to worry about it dropping back down in the basement on you that way. wouldn't even need those cross slats. that is a neat job though*

I have three of those winches and never had a problem with them, perhaps you got a bad one or was asking too much of it.

tried lifting a 1400 pound motor up just putting some tension on it with one of these while i swapped out the transmission on a 2000 Ford Taurus (that blue one i used to have) and it blew apart. even had blocks under the motor to keep it from falling and it's a good thing i did because they were the only thing that kept that motor from coming out of the car completely when the first winch blew apart the second winch lifted the motor just fine but the gear stripped out on it when winding it backup after the pressure was off of it . the first one was a Harbor Freight special, the second one was a Reese that came from Walmart, that's the reason i bought the Champion one i did to put on my car hauler. never had a problem out of them so far other than it rusting because my neighbor didn't want to put a box over it like i did this time. so far the one in the box is still brand new looking too.
