Lyrics:
Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence causes silence
Who are we mistaken?
But you see, it's not me
It's not my family
In your head, in your head, they are fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their drones
In your head, in your head, they are crying
What's in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie, oh
Another mother's breakin'
Heart is takin' over
When the violence causes silence
We must be mistaken
It's the same old theme
In two thousand eighteen
In your head, in your head, they're still fightin'
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their guns, and their drones
In your head, in your head, they are dyin'
What's in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie, oh
It's the same old theme
In two thousand eight-teen
In your head, in your head, they're dyin'
What's in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie,
Oh oh oh oh
Ie-ie, oh

@@jimmyobrien7693 Originally they were supposed to have Dolores herself on set! She loved their take on this song, and the plan was that she'd be performing together with Bad Wolves in this video, but could not, due to her untimely death. So what we're hearing here is only part of what was imagined. Also, donating the proceeds to her children is a big thing to a band which is just setting off. As with any business, money is tight at that time.

Absolutely astonishing that we're still here with children caught in the crosshairs of political, and religious unrest. Depressing to think we as a species can't seem to learn, except new ways to kill each other. Few thousand years before The Troubles began, and still today a bit over a hundred years since 1916 we have children dying in Israel/Gaza.

Music transcends age, time, genre, race, everything. It has kept me going in my darkest times. I go see live shows a few times a year. Being there with thousands of like minded people, all just trying to have fun and forget about the horror for awhile. It's the best form of therapy i know of. Try it, nothing beats a live show. It feels like the music is actually inside of your chest and body. It's like a natural high and I highly recommend it. Be kind to each other. You never know what someone is dealing with. ❤ Blessings to you all & rock on. 😎✊️

As an avid lover of the original this song is just as powerful to me. It’s like Bad Wolves’ version of this song is talking TO Delores, letting her know that the world is still the same today as it was when she sung this song for the first time, and that they’re angry about it on her behalf. Every single note and vocal of this song was made with passion, love, and a resounding respect for Delores and her career. Listening to both versions of this song and the message they share is truly something special and I recommend everyone at LEAST give it a listen.

I remember being 14, finally having my own room, free to sleep with the TV on whatever channel I wanted. Usually MTV, mid 90's still showed great music after Beavis & Butthead. I'd nod off to sleep, occasionally being woken by certain notes, certain songs. As soon as Zombie began playing, never fail every time, my mind would wake up instantly. I'd have to wake up & watch it. It fascinated me, & until just this moment, first hearing this song, I felt that fascination again. I have since listened to this version countless times in the past few days. For the first time in a long time, I'm 30 years younger, singing & beating in time with those drums, screaming to the top of my lungs. Thank you for this. I'm Irish, I remember this song being released, the violence and troubles was something that wasn't really touched on like this besides Irish rebel songs, this brought a whole different meaning and approach within the realms of music, it realised the true pain that was being experienced. The Cranberries were brave approaching this topic at this time, one amazing band, which we all will be eternally grateful for! I didn't think this song could be touched because it meant so much but wow Bad Wolves pulled it off and made one savage cover! 🔥 Respect!!! Dolores will be forever in our hearts ♡ May she RIP.

I've seen this song touch people the world over. The world now knows a bit of Ireland's pain, but also Ireland now knows that the whole world (sadly) can relate. The alienation and brutality of division and war and the 'collateral' of our children, meaning our innocent selves and future selves as well as our actual children, is the legacy that we as a species must somehow move beyond. Meanwhile, we'll pay tribute with Dolores to each and every memory, as that is exactly what it means to be a human being.

It's not just a tribute, it's her legacy, as said in the start of the video she was set to reprise her vocals, but died a day before she was set to reprise them. She gave Bad Wolves this song, she gave them her will, and her blessing to carry on the legacy that the Cranberries started, them turning around and saying we are dedicating this song to her, is just them realizing that they weren't just 'the right ones at the right time' but handpicked by her, no other bad was good enough in her eyes.

@@_ekyaJ It robs the song of its original context. The original line "since 1916" refers to the Easter Rising/Rebellion of 1916, from which footage is shown in the Cranberries' music video, and how the violence in Ireland has continued up until the writing of the song in 1993 in response to the Warrington bombings. The original wasn't written in 1916 -- it had a specific reason to call back to that date and say "it's been the same ever since." So changing the lyrics to say "in 2018" subverts the purpose of the line as soon as the year changes. Exact same problem the BEP ran into with their lyric choice.

The reference to the cranberries music video of Dolores covered in that golden sheen. You start to put the pieces together. As she stands behind the glass, on the other side. It is absolutely beautiful, and I love the respect they paid to the song, and how they donated everything they made to her kids. ❤

The day she passed away, Dolores actually announced she'd be singing the cover with Bad Wolves. They decided to release it without her, changed the lyrics a little and made into a tribute to her. It shows how strong her influence in the music community was. She will be missed.

O'Riordan wrote this song out of pure hate and anger for the IRA after they killed two little boys (ages 3,7)with bombings during The Troubles. She wanted the world to know that wasn't what Ireland, her 'family' was supposed to be. These guys do a fantastic job of taking that song and making it their own while still carrying the weight of Dolores' words and feelings. Amazing cover. "This song's our cry against man's inhumanity to man; and man's inhumanity to child." - Dolores O'Riordan.

Welp, the lead singer just lit any understanding of O'Riordan's outrage at oppression on fire saying he had never experienced racism and the current protests and outrage are manufactured. He is a piece of shit. Lucky him never experiencing racism but jesus, what a piece of shit for saying there is nothing behind the protests.

@@yebhx Did you conveniently gloss over the part where he said the outrage was justifiable from BLM etc? He is referring to Antifa and media when he's talking about protests being hijacked (true). When I was a child, I loved the song Zombie just cause of how it sounded. But as I got older and began to understand it more and more, it's impact hit harder and harder seeing the bullshit happening... The songs relevance came much more clearer when the second war in Iraq happened in 2003 and later it came out that there were no WMDs.. And now hearing this with the line "It's the same old theme, In two thousand eighteen In your head, in your head, they're still fightin' With their tanks, and their bombs And their guns, and their drones" It's weight has become even more heavier then ever.. Dolores would be very proud of this cover... RIP Dolores..
