Elfa Shelving Installation | Garage Makeover

Welcome back to my channel! I'd say the best thing to come out of this pandemic and having to shelter-in-place is the ability to work on some DIY activities and other at Home projects. Today I want to share with you my experience setting up an Elfa Shelf System in my garage. This isn't a complete makeover and there are still some shelves I need to set up, but this video covers some of the progress I have made as well as some of the things I have learned along the way.

Yea. I actually put it up and then had to start all over because some of the shelves weren't aligned. best to start from one side and go in one direction to make sure everything lines up.

I believe you can screw the standards directly to the wall (and wall studs if they align) to keep the standards from bowing.

Chris, that is very nice. I love elfa! Keeps you organized and makes use of all the vertical space!

Thanks Maria. I agree. It can get a bit expensive, but it's so easy to assemble and customizable.

I love the shelves. They are a bit more expensive then Id like, but they do work well and I like the look and customization

Thanks for sharing, I just installed the top track. Unfortunately, none of the pre drill hole were aligned with a stud. I have to use all wall anchor for the 7 holes. Kind a nervous if the anchors only can support the weight of the system. Any thoughts?

Container Store has some of the best anchors. I love them and use them for everything. The shelves should be able to support 500lbs assuming you have 1/2" or 5/8" sheetrock/drywall. It's amazing that you didn't align with at least 1 or 2 studs. Nonetheless, the vertical bars and brackets help to distribute the weight evenly across the entire wall.

Mark your studs and drill your own holes in the top track. Problem solved.
