I’ve been using this arm with my sm7b for 2-3 months and it’s been flawless, I can see all my monitors without non of them getting blocked off

Seems like you need too tighten the screw on that elgato arm. There should be a tightening screw for the arm that pops out. I've seen other videos and it doesn't pop out on those

Thanks for a thorough review. Was using the Rode PSA-1 with an SM7B, moved to a desk stand which is less on camera but in the way, and now planning to get the Elgato low profile to have best of both worlds. The PSA-1, while a high-quality product, is looking dated for video podcasts and livestreams.

My first boom arm was the RØDE PSA1, but I had all the problems you mentioned, so I switched to the Blue Compass. I used it for about a year, but I found that I missed not needing to constantly adjust my microphone (which is a problem inherent to all tube-style boom arms). My current boom arm, which I've been using for almost a year now, is the newer RØDE PSA1+, and I love it. The pinch points are covered, it doesn't spring up when removing a mic, and since it's still a scissor-style arm, there's almost never a need to adjust my mic. I am very interested in the Elgato Wave Arm LP though. I would much prefer to get my mic out of the way of my second monitor.

Thanks for the video! I'm really considering ordering one of these... but before doing so I was trying to figure out the maximum height that the arm can reach. Of course the height of the desk will make a difference too, but I'm trying to make sure that I will also be able to use my mic when standing up and not just when sitting down.

Just tight the sets screw on the middle join elbow part. So, it doesn't come apart when you turn it

I too have the Blue Compass, and it's a very solid boom arm. I really love the look of the low profile boom arms. I've noticed many content creators have the ProBoom "Ultima" low profile boom arms. They are really nice, but I can't justify paying $350 for one. I'll definitely look into this Elgato arm for sure! Thanks Kevin 🤙🏻

Hello. I have an MXL 990 which is a decently heavy microphone, I used to have a Blue Compass and it was great for a while but it suddenly snapped and completely broke without me even touching it, but it lasted a good 6 months or so. Recently bought the Elgato Wave LP and I love it. I have 3 monitors on a vesa mount and I have the boom arm mounted straight back across from me under the monitors and it get my mic right in front of my face without blocking any of the monitors and it's just high enough to not effect keyboard usage. 10/10. I can never go back to standard design arms

You'd love the PSA1+. They fixed literally every single issue you had with the original. Though I do find it odd you showed the 1+ twice in this video (it's the neoprene wrapped one)

A couple of neodymium magnets will put an end to that problem. You can get them rather cheap on Amazon nowadays. A couple of quarter sized on each end should do. Careful with your fingers, these magnets are no joke.

It looks like there is a spot for a set screw for the middle joint or the arm so it doesn't pop out....

Dang, Elgato has been a very consistent company. I'm using their Wave 1 as my mic, and that thing is great. The software runs flawlessly and it has great mixing controls. I might toss in one of these arms next time I do a desk upgrade. I just have some $30 amazon scissor rn.

I would use low profile boom arms if they didn't look so ridiculously ugly and I honestly love the rode psa 1+ and I have never gotten hit in the face with it
