It’s film, no one catches fish every time they go fishing. Also, if you fish everyday, you’ll know more about where the fish are. You’ll generally catch more fish than a guy who goes out once a month or so.

By the way, this may be a throwaway video or trip for you, but I have to say I really appreciate this one. Lots to learn from this. My father always said “outside bends” (because you get depth contours there) and this looked to more or less follow that pattern.

Get the kayak! I bought one when I retired and it's been a blast. Backwaters, ponds, rivers, all lots of fun. And I've never caught more fish since switching to kayak fishing. Stealth fishing at it's best.

The salinity changes due to rain and tide but you would be surprised how far up the cape fear river you can catch saltwater fish.

You have an awesome kayak. I do have a question though, that Kayak is not cheap especially with all the gear you have on it, why not just get a small used bass rig instead? I mean, other than being able to get into small places, wouldn’t a bass rig be much better?

Please use a barbless hook. You do't need the barb and it just hurts the fish.

@@EliasVFishing I figured as I used to guide kayaking trips in the area. Check out Liliput Creek for a spectacular paddle. It starts in the salt marsh, enters a cypress forest, and then empties into freshwater McKinzie Pond. 3 different ecosystems on one trip. I first paddled it alone back in the 1990's while on lsd. Being surrounded by 12 foot gators while tripping balls is something I'll never forget. The best fishing, however, is where the creek empties into the CFR. About 200 yards before the mouth where the creek turns sharply to the right.
