I see also Elie Saab actually as probably the best Haute Couture designer, Karl Lagerfeld was genius and many todays designers started as his admirers. I think Karl Lagerfeld was more sophisticated and diverse, Elie Saab is more elegant and more materials oriented. Karl Lagerfeld as German was great builder of high end and very classy french fashion for decades.

Gabriel Chanel was a fashion game changer in her era, she brought more casual typical style that Karl Lagerfeld developed with his mastery. Typical Chanel elements have been seen in brands fashion shows until his death.

Elie Saab has managed to combine sexy, elegant, feminine yet original. Each of his design is unique precision/detail wise.

And more than that, I, as proud central European woman having equal right with men I prize his very feminine sexy models not influenced by any religion dogmas (like forcing woman cover face, cover hair, force them wearing long skirt up to ground and similar nonsense)
