During the whole winter I've been traveling to the northenmost cities of Russia. This time we will visit notoriously famous ghost town - Vorkuta. Is it the most depressing city of Russia? Do locals love living there? What is the future of Vorkuta? I will try to answer these questions.
Time codes:
0:00 Vorkuta's history
3:26 Let's explore the city. Central park, locals and reindeer.
10:34 Finally the daylight!
12:30 Exploring abandoned frozen settlements
16:03 Special nordic tea
17:32 Local winter entertainments
19:53 The most precious thing in Vorkuta is the people

I was born in Vorkuta and lived there till I was 3 or 4 years old. I have very few small memories of loving there like the childcare centre. My family and I moved from there down south closer to moscow, then we imigrated to Australia when I was. I love watching these videos because it feels surreal that I lived there. I was Vit D deficient as a baby because obviously there was not enough sun there. A distant relative of our still lives there. I dream about visiting Russia and especially Vorkuta one day. Thank you for the video.

Hello, I was born in Vorkuta and lived there until I was 19, coming back to visit my family once in a while until my grandparents died and my mom and my other close family moved to Syktyvkar. I love Vorkuta and miss it dearly; it’s really nice to see that at least someone showed positive vibe and not only ruins of the town. Vorkuta is definitely in my heart forever and it’s so heartbreaking to see how vloggers only trying to show how abandoned and depressing everything is in there. Thank you for your video it really brought good spirits to my heart and I am thankful that you had a wonderful experience and showed others how things are there. I live in USA and often watching videos about Vorkuta because I miss it a lot. Thank you again and best of luck with all other videos.

In the future I hope for friendship and co-operation between the west and Russia . Being from Canada and having grown up in a dying former coal mining town have always made me feel a kind of kinship with the people of Russia . The climate in Canada is very similar and when I see videos of small depicting small town life and village life and close knit communities is very familiar looking I have seen the consequences that De-industrialization has on a town first hand bit everyone who has chosen to stay are all very happy and can't imagine living anywhere else . The dissatisfied leave and rhe rest happily stay. I choose to leave due to lack of enjoyment opportunities but I would have stayed in a heart beat of there were decent paying jobs to have.

I have been living in a town 70° north (Vorkuta is 67° north) and the reason why people want to move is the polar night. I remember the night lasted 3 months and so many people found all that darkness very depressing. I just took a job there for a year, and I'm happy I experienced it. I found it to be beautiful, but many of the locals I met there sounded like they wanted to get away due to the cold and darkness.

This is one of your best Eli. I've always loved abandoned places. And the idea of so many desolate buildings above the Arctic Circle is just too enticing. And the fact that I'll probably never be able to visit there myself really makes your video a window into another world. And I can believe that the people who live there appreciate it. I lived in a small town in Alaska for 22 years and I loved it. We were at the same latitude as St. Petersburg and we did get around 6 hours of light in the winter, but I loved the darkness. And since the bears were asleep it was a great time to walk along trails by the fjord. Keep going Eli, don't let things stop you.

Only base I hear of is Air Force. You say you're Army, my grandad was Navy during WWII, stationed in Alaska. He mentioned I think a grizzly charging him and others. Then he said they were shooting at him, he kept coming. I assume they were shooting, .30-o6. He said they hit him many times and he kept oncoming. Then said eventually he fell. I kind of got the ideA he didn't go for killing the bear. Maybe the others antagonize it or something. It could have been a polar bear. I can't remember. I don't know and doubt a bear would handle .50 cal bullets. But, I do not know how tough they are. 1000 #'s is a lot of bear.

I'm American and I loved this vlog, the people seem to be so warm , respectful and so proud of their town ,if I was younger I dearly would love to stay in this town for a month's vacation and knowing me I probably wouldn't want to leave because of the beautiful people and not a big city. I prefer smaller towns and this town fits my desire. GOD BLESS EVERYONE and GOD BLESS YOU FOR SHARING THIS AMAZING WONDERFUL TOWN AND ITS PEOPLE. .STAY WARM AND SAFE. AGAIN GOD BLESS

I have the impression that Russian people are quite like Americans: proud, friendly and getting a worst deal than they really deserve. I don't know Russians well, but I do know Americans.

Your videos look very professional, better the average TV shows. Enjoy watching you and your way of showing us unusual places and people of Russia. Your videos are like the old style travelogs (1950s - 1970s) from the USA. This video makes appreciate living in Southern California.

Yes, Vitamin D deficiency is rampant in our World..and many are unaware why they suffer from depression.. Lack of vitamin D causes depression and also the same for Iron Deficiency So ND aware because Doctors are really ignorant and are in league with BIG PHARMA.. and will make it worst for you . WHEN YOU ONLY NEEDED Vitamin D or Iron This iscso prevalent.. Understand Doctors are ALLOPATHIC Not taught about preventive...no Big money in it..insurance only pays drugs So it is important to be WISE They do not know ..so you MUST MUST REQUEST A TEST FOR DEFICIENCIES BEFORE any suggestions of drugs..just because it's suggested does not mean must accept God Bless You Really enjoyed video..I live learning about different places You presented 🎁 this so positively. as friend telling us about Vorkuta. Thank you 😊 💓

Amazing video you've produced - thank you! At first it seemed an enchanting city- the lights, the shops and people driving. But the more you explored the emptiness began to show- especially when you crossed the bridge into the deserted part...creepy. I would never have known this place existed if not for you!

#GetOutOfUkraineRussianMonsters #ChildrenOfUkraine #GenocideOfUkrainians #RussianArmyChildRapists #RussianWarCrimes #StolenChildrenOfUkraine. In Ukraine, we have had >500,000 people FORCIBLY MOVED TO CRAPHOLES LIKE THIS IN RUSSIA! Many had been raped, tortured, had children taken off them, sent to "filtration camps" and are now forced to work in labor camps on Russian soil. Russians, meanwhile are making idiotic videos like this distracting from the horrors that they are inflicting on the Ukrainian nation! They have stolen over 160,000 of our Ukrainian children after slaughtering their parents and have legalized "no questions asked" adoption. Many of those children end up abused, exploited, and murdered!!! WORLD, wake up from these hypnotic videos - OPEN your eyes! They rely on the world's naive desire to give everyone the "benefit of the doubt" and constant second chances... If a Russian speaks, Russian lies!!! This will save you YEARS of HEARTACHE. They pretend to be helpless, but really, they despise every other nation! It is the Russian way. They don't send in boys from Moscow to the frontlines, look at where most of the casualties are from - ethnic minorities in Russia! Open your eyes!!! Just pause and open your eyes to what most Russians are really - MANIPULATIVE MONSTERS WHO CHANGE MASKS AS IT SUITS THEM!!!

There are American cities that are also dying and are growing smaller and becoming violently crime ridden and worst, becoming environmentally toxic for the remaining inhabitants to further stay there like Michigan's Chicago and New York City's surrounding communities and the list goes on and on and on.
