Welcome to the Far East. It's the least populated region of Russia - only about 5% of the population lives here. Vladivostok is the capital of Primorsky Krai and it’s the second-largest city in the Russian Far East with a population of about 600,871. The city is famous for its harbor location as the home port of the Russian Pacific Fleet and being the final stop on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

Hello from Minnesota USA! We are at the approximate same latitude as Vladivostok. We have a "piece" of Vladivostok here in our Minnesota Zoo in our Russia's Grizzly Coast section with amur tigers, Russian grizzlies, and exhibits relating to Lake Primorsky area and Kamchatka region. Exhibits are all in English and Russian as well. We do have a lot of Russian speaking immigrants here. So fascinating!

The lovely Vladivostok! My first ever exposure to Russia the Country, Russia the People, and Russia the Culture! That was in 1998, I was a young US Marine, we did a port-of-call in Vladivostok as a visiting US Military forces, pretty much a political dog & pony show between the US and Russia politicians & military leaders. We stayed there for a week to help boost the local economy through commerce and building good foreign relations; i.e. by partying, getting drunk, meeting some partying Russian people, and shopping! Awesome experience, interactions with locals were amazing, they were very receptive to us, and it was great all around. I think, and I can speak for the other fellow US Marines in my squad, was one of best experience was we were just hanging around outside a bar, with some old timers, just drinking, talking about home, families, and showing pictures of each others families. No politics BS. Just regular people from having fun & getting drunk with Stoli! The coolest thing happened though was, the Russian merchant marines we met in Vladic, we met them again in Quingdao port! This time in Quingdao, us the US Marines, Russian merchant marine, and a Chinese Army Officer, was actually getting drunk and hanging around at the Chinese Officer's home/store....and just having fun! No politics - Russians, American, & Chinese...all regular people...just hanging around telling stories about home to each other. Best ever experience. After Vladic, we went straight to Quingdao for another another political dog & pony show, stay a week to get drunk and party, and onward to Korea's Chinhae & Pohang port for similar thing.

@@SvetlanaVoikova OH YES! we met and hanged-out with bunch of Russians there in vladic and just had a blast! We met these young newly-wed Russian couple, and since this was in the 90s, they still feeling the effect of post-Soviet/post-closure/opening of Vladic..so, my squad gathered some supplies like food, soaps/detergents, canned foods, cereals, gave them some shirts, blankets, linen sheets & other stuffs (that we stole from the ship - LOL!!!!) and we gave it them all wrapped in black garbage bags as to not to be obvious. that was great! and then, we continued partying on until we left for Quingdao. We met a lot good people there!

@@johnlone207 yes, the 90s were difficult throughout Russia, now everything is fine. The story of the things stolen from the ship is funny! @@SvetlanaVoikova I am always wanted to go there in Siberia. I always dreamed of seeing it, feel it, absorb it. I hope yo get to visit your cousins there in Vladic; and based on Eli's video, it changed significantly compare to the time when we were there. You must see it. I am lucky enough that I enjoy reading Russian literature, reading from Dostoevsky to Chekov, Turgeneyv, & Gogol, as well as listening to Tchaikovsky...so, when we visited Vladic, it was awesome for me, even though the stories were set in different places in Russia, but the land and people in books, and the land I am standing on, and the people I am seeing at that particular moment, are the same. I truly appreciate my time there, and meeting the wonderful people.

It's so funny that you say you are on the far end of Russia, when this is the closest part of Russia where I live in the Pacific Northwest of America. The culture there is somewhat similar to the Northwest culture with the mix of Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. In Seattle, there are a ton of Korean restaurants, and I don't think they would care if you filmed. And the Kamchatka crab is called the King Crab here

---------- Greetings from Scotland! I enjoyed your video of Vladivostok so much Eli! For 6 years I have followed an incredible young Russian singer called Diana Ankudinova who was born in Ussuriysk, just North of Vladivostok. She was adopted by a nice family in Arsenyev who moved to Togliatti, then Moscow. Now she is 19yo and rapidly becoming famous in countries all around the world! You gave me an insight in the culture that she came from and a lot of things about Diana now make more sense! Thank you so much Eli!

@@kdizzle4488 Blaming the deaths on Putin demonstrates an incredible lack of knowledge about NATO expansion Eastwards and Russia's pleas to stop it as troops and missiles on their borders represent an existential threat to them. That the war started when Putin sent in troops on Feb. 24th, 2022 is Western propaganda...the war had been going on since we instigated a coup in 2014...and had killed 14,000 ethnic Russians and wounded 50,000 before Feb.2022 yes it is sad that Russians and Ukrainians are dying but it's the Western powers doing. ....and if you're not a bot, do your own digging and learn how the average income in Russia is 3 times what it was when Putin took over.....he has also more than doubled the pensions lately.
