I *think* you still age with the Ring, just incredibly slowly. In the books, you don't even need to keep it on you for this power to work: Frodo had the Ring for 17 years before Gandalf at last discovered a way to test it, and it was remarked that barely aged a single day. It does not really grant more life, just continues it. Bilbo was noted to have become quite weary in only 60 years. And look what it did to Gollum(Part of that was avoiding the Sun for 500 years...)

I mean.. he is *a* ring bearer. The One Ring is not the only ring of power; the Elf, Dwarf, and Human lords who were gifted rings are also ring bearers. There is no single one. Hell, he's not even the only one to have borne the One Ring, nor for the longest time. "I want to hear more about Samwise the brave. Frodo wouldn't have gotten far without Sam." Sam, who is also a bearer of the One Ring ;) and used it quite a lot, if you read the books.

@@hinney827 I have read the books. Yeah, there are other rings, but this is THE ring. Frodo is referred to multiple times in the books as the Ring Bearer. Frodo was chosen as the one to carry the Ring to Mordor during the Council of Elrond. This is a big deal. This is why Galadriel says "This task was appointed to you. If you do not find a way, no one will." Sam hardly used it at all. He took it off Frodo when he thought Frodo was dead, and felt the Ring slowly manipulating his mind. He didn't really use it because he knew about it's corruptive influence, and gave it right back to Frodo when he found him.

@@MrZackavelli For what it's worth, I happened to have just watched the movies. Elrond refers to him in the movies at least as 'a ringbearer'. I can't say whether they make that distinction in the books.

Ring bearer refers to the one who ports the one ring. There's been plenty... Sauron, Sam, Gollum, Bilbo, to name a few.
