The nut block consists of yellow main nut and green additional one. There is a screw joint of small lead between the nuts. Turn the green nut to eliminate the backlash. The red latch positions the green nut when merging with the teeth on the green nut. The tooth number should be as large as possible for fine adjusting.
The video first scene shows the possible motion of the nut block in case of large backlash.
This video was made based on picture 8.39, page 603 of the Russian book: С. Н. Кожевников и другие, Механизмы, Москва, 1965.

The green piece would collide with the threads on the pink, you would need to separate the green piece's fine threads and coarse from each-other so they can freely spin, but still stay on same x axis.

Excellent. Something that I’ve actually seen used on machine tools .

it will not work. Green screw has 2 different size threads in contact at the same time. Despite small thread, you would be able to turn it only few degrees (until green and yellow threads will touch red thread by applying force to opposite direction. To fix this you need to make green thread teeths thickness a half size of normal. Only in this case you will have 180 degree at the best. At 0:14 look at the bottom to the green and red teeths collision.

Your channel is a total gold mine. I've just seen the Russian book that you reference and its also amazing, so many drawings and mechanisms and of course, totally in russian, so I don't understand a word. What percentage of the mechanisms found in that book have you animated?

What book? In case of С. Н. Кожевников и другие, Механизмы, Москва, 1965, 1060 стр. my animations make up about 10% of its 2030 mechanisms

Shouldn't the pink part rotate with the green additional one when the green is rotating? best regards
@thang010146
@thang010146 3 жыл бұрын
Very interesting question. If the pink screw rotates together with the green one, due to the lead difference of the two helical joints, the backlash will be eliminated finally. However, the best way is to keep the pink screw immobile during the adjusting.

@@thang010146 Thank you for your answer. I've been watching your channel for years. Now I can actually see that there can be two kinds of regulation. One when the pink and green parts move together. And for that it would take a longer rotation - like in the presentation. And the second, when only the green part moves with very little rotation to fill the gap. At a time of 0:24 - 0:25 seconds of the video, it look like the screw of the green element passes through the pink. It was confusing to me. But it's still a great solution. Best regards.

If the green part has a small amount of friction, and the outside forms a ratchet mechanism, just a __. __ /. |. /. | /. |___/. |___ Then the green nut will automatically eliminate any backlash that builds up...

Hi I think it's just the stopper of the nut. Hou does it effect backlash ? Thank You
@thang010146
@thang010146 Ай бұрын
After adjusting (at 0.15 minute), the backlash is zero and the block of the two nuts (green and yellow) can not move in any direction if the screw does not rotate. Also please read the video description.

Please read the video title. The backlash is created due to the wear of the screw and nut during the transmission.
