How thankful I am for my mother (and father whom I don't remember), and for my grandparents. They were dear, loving, praying saints. I hope I can emulate them, as I pray for our 9 grands. They are such gifts!

Hello Valerie Shepard, what a wonderful thing to read your message! Your mother's ministry is a blessing and I am glad I discovered these very practical and wise teachings. I wonder have you ever written a book or made any teachings available? Do forgive my ignorance if you have! I listened to one of your interviews with your mother on raising a family and I felt you had so much wisdom, how I would truly love to hear your teachings too (and I believe others would). Our generation now certainly would profit from it! It's hard to find anyone who speaks and teaches practical living like this - common sense rooted in Christ, so many of these enduring truths are all too often unspoken, ignored or forgotten. Blessings from a young lady in England.

I have six children and no grandchildren yet, but this is what I want to be. I'm in tears over Amy Carmichael's prayer that she read. I copied it down so I can pray it for my children. Thank you for sharing this video. God bless you.

My grandma, ang aking lola Ines ang naging role model ko Mula bata pa ako. Nakita sa kanya ang pagiging meekness, loyalty, submissive, obedient to God at pagmamahal at pagtitiyaga sa aming lahat. I thank GOD for having a prayerful grandma. Nagpahinga na siya noong 2017 pero namimiss Ko pa din siya hanggang ngayon.

I am thrilled and thankful to find this video on KZfaq. I gave the "Forget Me Not" VHS tapes to my own mother way back in the 1980s when my husband and I began to have children. I am now a grandmother of four precious children myself. Needing some inspiration today I searched KZfaq for "Godly grandparenting". This popped up! The Lord knew I needed this. Thank you to the person who posted it!

What a beautiful story about Mrs. Kershaw. When I was a young girl, there was a lady named Edna who came to our house several times a year to wash windows, help Mom with the ironing and anything else that Mom wanted her to do. Mom was working outside the home back then. If I happened to be sick, Mom would call Edna and she would come and stay with me. At lunch, Edna stopped every day and made our lunch. Then she would sit quietly and read her Bible and pray. We weren't monetarily rich by any means and it was such a treat to have Edna come occasionally. I treasure those memories. Diane in NC

I love watching these talks by Elisabeth Elliot and am so thankful that I can. I consider it an absolute treat in the evenings while I sew. She is such a mentor to me and I wish I could have known her. Valerie Shepherd is a blessed woman . .. but we all are if we can listen to these nourishing, God breathed talks. Oh, I wish I could talk to her . . . and I do miss her so very much. Even though I never met her, she was always there in the background as I was growing up (I am the age of her daughter). It was my own mother who first told me of Elisabeth when she read to me about their (Jim and Elisabeth's) missionary work in Equador so I feel I've always known of her . . . and admired her . . . I wept on and off all day when I heard she had gone to Heaven . . . that she was no longer with us here on Earth . . . but then I am glad too, that she is now with the Lord she loved so very much.

15:24 She prayed: Father, hear us, we are praying, Hear the words our hearts are saying, We are praying for our children. Keep them from the powers of evil, From the secret, hidden peril, From the whirlpool that would suck them, From the treacherous quicksand, pluck them. From the worldling’s hollow gladness, From the sting of faithless sadness, Holy Father, save our children. Through life’s troubled waters steer them, Through life’s bitter battle cheer them, Father, Father, be Thou near them. Hear the language of our longing, Hear the wordless pleadings thronging, Holy Father, for our children. And wherever they may bide, Lead them home at eventide.

I just love Elisabeth Elliot and have listened to her for years. In my case I was an older mother and sort of a mother / grandmother mixed with my boys. They did not have my mother because she had alsheimer and my husband's mother was well only for a very few and to my boys lives. So everything fell on me and I taught them the old ways as much as I could. I also diligently pray for them.

I see a very big tree, spreading out its many branches, giving shade n nesting possibilities to tired birds n busy squirrels, as it digs its unseen roots deep into the ground, to draw nurture n moisture, so it can stand strong n wide n stable, even in the sunniest or stormiest of days!

A grandmother shouldn't correct God's words ...... Charity suffereth long.... not love.....gray hair is a crown of glory .... not splendor. Grandchildren should know that God places the value if his words higher than his name, they aren't ours to correct at will.
