Y'know when you're all tired out from basketball and you need some energy? You need Honey Lemons!!! These are the Honey Lemons from Kuroko No Basket (MITOBE'S RECIPE), which are a great little candied snack on their own, or can be used to make honey lemon hot tea or ice tea and more! They'll give you ENERGY!

Wonderful! I would like to know how you freeze them so that the lemon slices do not stick together -Do you put all of them in a container, or do you separate them with a particular type of paper/plastic?. I work at a cafeteria and I'm trying to find ways to have lemon & orange slices always available and ready to decorate our beverages - It'll help us save time by not having to cut the fruits on the spot. When frozen, how long do they remain in good condition? Thank you in advance!

@@yoshibald8958 Its mainly a quick way of being refreshed, replenishing electrolytes and a burst of sugar or energy. (when you do high-intensity sport for more than 20-30 minutes you start using your carbohydrate or glycogen stores (usually about 45 minutes these can be used up). therefore having a break and having some carbohydrates in sugar (honey) BAM extra energy for you. Similar to having oranges at half time, sugar or a sports drink in theory.

it might be the amount of the white part of the rind that is what can make the lemons more bitter. try and find lemons with thinner white rind

Could you bake these at a low temp to dry them out maybe? Like after they sat and candied for a couple of days, I'd love to try to bake them at a super low temp for an hour or two to see if they dehydrate. I could pack them up and give them as gifts to some of my tea loving friends!

Aiko Ragonaroku oh I actually just tried this yesterday! It did work, however they were still sticky, so I just put the slices between pieces of parchment paper and put them in a container in the fridge. They’re great to add to some hot tea!

Hi! Thank you so much for this question! It sounds awesome, if I were to do this I would try to bake it on a wire rack so that the heat and air can circulate the lemons, drying them out for a good 4-5 hours at a very low temperature. Or, if you are lucky the able to afford one, try a food dehydrator!! (I do not have this luxury) sorry for the late reply I didn't see this before and have been studying like crazy for exams!

I have had them in the fridge for about a week but drain the fluid because they can get too soggy/ soft. i'd recommend freezing if not having within the week

Can i ask something can you reuse the honey for another batch?

I have never tried using the same honey before, you could try but it is a lot more watery after and it might make them taste more bitter. the honey is supposed to partially crystalize the lemon. this removes some of the liquid and might not work as the honey is diluted and you get some of the tartness from the lemon. You could try it and just add a bit more honey to it.

Hey Elise, I see you're still reacting to comments (you absolute legend) and I was wondering what you think about reusing the honey for a 2nd (and possibly more) time. I would see how this might not be great cause you showed how the honey substance changed but I don't think I can afford to buy new honey every time :(

Hi there :D we are trying to reply hopefully to everyone so thank you for seeing our efforts XD. And I haven't personally done it (mainly because I freeze the lemons with the honey liquid for delicious ice cubes). I'm sure you could just check how much white you have on your lemons as this can make the honey liquid go a bit bitter. I'm not sure if it would crystalise or candy as well if it is reused. it can be i would recommend more lemon water without honey as this is a sugar and that's where the calories will come from. you could always do this and drip the lemon of most of the liquid and it could make a great and refreshing snack. its designed to give energy at half time so it does have a few calories but not a huge amount XD
