It's funny Joe opens up about UCONN... (I'm from Connecticut) the guest is Steamer who I got into their skating watching skate videos in Connecticut. Her team mate Brian Anderson was our local skater and Donny Barley. I'm from Groton CT. Brian and Donny are in those videos way back then.

I admit to knowing little about skating, but I found her stories and her honesty both interesting and endearing.

Elissa’s mom was my step moms best friend. Great person for a long while now. Only game I got to see my team play live this year was against UConn. UConn destroyed my team, but it’s cool to have seen the eventual champions.

You guys need to have more classic SB skaters like this on the shoe. I met Elissa a few months ago in SF. She's an amazing person to talk too especially on the shoe front. Literally been around forever. And for the record she still has a 2nd pair of personal grateful dead oranges on ice....

Elissa is so rad I met her in San Fran and she talked to me for like 20 mins. Definitely one of the more down to earth skaters

There's huge crossover between the shoe collector community and most (especially older) skaters, and not just because of the SB Dunk craze. We've been obsessive about shoes since the 90s, if not before. Poring over the CCS catalogues, even though it was way to expensive to ship to NZ. My sister gave me her Airwalk 500° when I started high school in 93 and I rocked them til they were dead even though they were slightly too small for most of the lifespan. Copped some Natas Etnies a little later, and the shoe obsession fully bloomed. I drew shoes all through high school. It was so epic seeing all the new brands pop up-DVS (which had local NZ investors/pros), DC, Kastel, Osiris, Axion... Such a great time for shoes. They got ridiculous in the 00s but those mid to late 90s shoes were so dope (referred to as the golden era by most skate shoe collectors). Really nice mix of tech and clean, and mostly a really good level of "puff". More shoe obsessed skate pros/ex-pros please!
