That is the point actually. And the appeal for the playerbase they are creating the game for. You aren't supposed to have consequence. You play as a citizen in a realistic futuristic rendition of our galaxy. You don't play as a special snowflake that has magical influence. Instead as an actual person. Don't like it? Well go play 95% of the worlds games which are designed around the special snowflake generation.

@@scottmanley I can agree, it hasn't been the most complete launch, there have been worse games.. Odyssey is buggy and unfinished true, but it's far from all out bad. Just the fact alone that we now can get out of our ship and walk around on the planets to explore, and get a sence of the scale of our ship and surroundings has really made elite much more amasing than it's ever been.

Sure you can just sell it, it's not really worth very much.

@@scottmanley.. it seems like you actually need an energy weapon like a Pulse Laser to activate the pylons. Went back to the bubble, picked up a laser, went back to the guardian beacon and it worked emmediatly. Didn't even had to scan them, just selected them and started shooting.

i played about a month after the expansion. i loved the visuals and physics of the game even more in v.r i guess i fell out of love with it. i live vicariously thru your videos now, all the goods and no blasting outlaws and being the galaxys fedex guy. love your videos, you should do one on MHD and the new hypersonic aircraft/boost glide stuff.

penroc3 I took a look at that sighting of a supposed "new stealth aircraft". Looks a lot like a B-2 to me. In fact, it looks so much like a B-2 that you're going to have to get a better image to prove to me that it's not a B-2.

@@scottmanley I went to colonia in a diamond back with a 54ly jump range then I figured since sagittarius A* was practically nextdoor I went after that next and I discovered a lot of neutron stars that day

I've got some other Guardian stuff to do, I'll probably pick up a bunch more in the process. Then if I still need more I'll use the Oblisk pair in Synuefe XR-H d11-102 and it'll take me 15 minutes.

Well, it was not as bad as most ppl think. Here is what I did do collect them within an hour: Fly to a Guardian Ruin (check Cannon site for layout) I positioned my SRV between two neighboring active obelisks. Scan both and relog. I made a hotkey script to relog on my Logitech keyboard, so with a press of a button, the relog preocdure was automatic. Rinse and repeat. Dada... I got 80 Epsilons!

Nah, i am just disgusted by that amount of stupidity involved in spoilers on spaceships, speed limits in space, air-brakes in space, grotesque ship name filters that do even censor Braben's own ship types (Type "Federal Assault Ship" named as "Federal Assault Ship" gets displayed as Type "Federal Assault Ship" name "Federal ***ault Ship" - and yes, David Braben and his crew of gay developers know that - they still charge money for the ship name plates yet censor them drastically). I have low tolerance for stupid bullshit, and Braben's guild of software thieves are among the most stupid of them all. I bought some kits at the shop and i don't mind micro transactions as long as the devs act as adults and don't spread stupid shit. I despise people who design a game with "civilian massacre missions" while censoring ship names like i. e. "USS Bordello" because minors and reasons... and i also despise FDevs behaviour in their shitty forum where they act like concentration camp guards.

You can fly from planet to station in one flight without using Frameshift and you’ll see a seamless experience with no ‘loading screen’. Most people don’t do that.

There's no async loading/streaming of assets so there's a hard loading pause when you exit supercruise

The game designers for Elite should be fired. They need to find people who have some creativity.

The main problem is the universe is dead. Things don't happen as you travel and you can't interact with NPCs. You get your missions from a board instead of through NPCs you meet like in most games. The missions and USSs lack variety or challenge.

It's not a game for people who want to be spoon fed content like 99% of video games will do, you have to make a plan for what you want to achieve and then work towards it in order to get any sense of progress and accomplishment. I've got about 500 hours in the game so far - sure probably 150 hours of that was dull grind but the other 350 was pure entertainment which considering the game cost me all of $35 plus a $150 HOTAS, is pretty cheap entertainment. There is a lot to be critical of, of course - and Fdev could definitely put a story mode in for those who want to be guided along the path - but it's still a damn fine game.

There are people who plays Euro truck driver to fulfill their own 'goals'. If a book just gives you a bunch of random words and asks you to craft your own story, would you call it a good book? Eve is actually craft-your-own-story, Elite is just an empty sandbox.

People want the game to be what they want and are mad that the devs make a game which is slow.

Stop lying. We wanted what David Braben promised when he scammed us. We didn't want childish spoilers and robot faces on spaceships, turboprop sounds, submarine flight mechanics, grotesque victorian ship name filters, superpowers that allow high ranks on both sides at the same time, navy ranks without any navy, getting stalked by email for criticising Braben's scam tactics, tons of money spend on hundreds of hours of "developers" talk, completely ignored bug reports, grotesque attacks on Braben's shitty forum, pay to win, online functionality without servers, game design explicitly made for seven year olds while at the same time including civilian massacre missions, drugs and assassinations, and galaxy with even less content than Elite and Elite II already had.

the people making the third party sites are following the stories, they're participating in them.
