Movie was fire 🔥 very gritty very KIDS, & Alpha Dog like... loved it, pulled me in & had me locked in the entire time!!!! The guy who Directed it, also is the director of MTV’s True Life Documentaries, so he had a very bigggg slate of ideas & experience’s. Jordan Ross.

I saw Thumper for the first time on Netflix Feb 2018. Darren Aronofski's Requiem For A Dream explored similar themes of disaffected youth and drug abuse that eventually makes its way into their lives, but Jordan Ross's work here more clearly points to poverty as an important influence that is equally race blind. Pablo Schreiber deserves accolades for his ability to convey an electric undercurrent of violence in the character of Wyatt, though the story makes Wyatt sympathetic...to a degree. Daniel Webber, Grant Harvey, and Jazzy De Lisser won me over for each's nuanced portrayal of their character. My attention to this film was initially captured by Webber's portrayal of the gentle but not-as-dumb-as he-seems Beaver, who harbors a beautiful humanity unknown by his friends, that is discovered by Eliza Talyor’s Kat Carter. Grant Harvey's Troy is one of those big personality, risk takers, that is recognizable to some of us who may have hung around that kind of kid in our teen years, and he sells his part with an A+. Listening to interviews with the cast that reveals Harvey was given carte blanche by Ross to ad lib his lines throughout the shoot only added to my appreciation for this rising actor's work here. Jazzy De Lisser's Gina was riveting for her entirely convincing projection of an evil malevolence lurking under a superficial callousness. De Lisser should have received A LOT more press for this role. Two thumbs up.
