It's been 9 months since @goodbammsho's appeal, Gordy. Come on, man! What was it? Did you tell him anything related to your butt, and inanimate objects maybe? If you don't tell us, we'll just keep speculating, and this could get out of control quickly. Perhaps the priest could tell us, and it would be easier to locate him?

I was a good shy kid deathly afraid to get in trouble with Nuns or Parents. So when I would go in to confession and be like I was good, did not lie etc. and the priest would like interrogate me and tell me what I did wrong. I started to feel really bad about myself and didn't like what they were saying to me. So I started to lie to the Priest by telling him I lied.

I’m a minister and was at a body shop the other day, talking about some collision work that was about to be done. I mentioned a past collision, and the guy said, “It’s been repaired! It’s like that never even happened!” I walked away thinking, “This guy is better at proclaiming absolution than me!”

I sinned in my first confession, I was so afraid of the nuns, that when I went to confession, I had to make up a sin (lie) to keep the nuns and the priest happy. Said my three Hail Marys and that was the end of the confession/penalty phase, and the start of my life of sin.

I remember walking home from confession remembering a "sin" I forgot to confess, (maybe talking back to my mom??) stopping in my tracks and realizing that ment I lied by omission and now had two sins to confess, so I had to turn around and go back to confession again! What a goof ball I was.

I'd just like to point out that this might be the first time that Conan has pulled off a genuinely cool look and not looked like he's trying on a new look. The understated denim jacket with a tiny bit of flair, his hair a little tussled, the beard filling in but still neat. I'm marking the day, let it be known. Good job Conan (or whoever dressed Conan)

In grade 2 or 3 I was attending a Catholic school and we had to go to confession every day for a week. How much bad stuff could I do in a day? I lied and invented sins that I had committed just to have something to say. Then I would go to the stairwell and kneel in front of the wooden statue of Mary and recite as much as I could remember of the prescribed number of Hail Marys and Our Fathers. What a waste of time. I don't recall if I was as smart as Elizabeth Banks to confess to lying to be forgiven for that. Probably not.

Elizabeth Banks ROCKS... "A Pirate.", "Just lie, it doesn't F*#kin matter." Having grown up Roman Catholic as well(4 sisters & 1 brother), and spent at least $100K on therapy, you both have my sympathies. P.S. Best $100K investment I ever made.

It's so funny coz when I went to confession once a week at catholic school I pretty much just asked the priest about dinosaurs and how geology works. I took up an entire religion class proving the bible wasnt factual and you cannot possibly base your entire life on lies. My dear sweet sister of mercy. Sister jane marie. She had the head wobble I dont know what disease that is. I asked her very specifically with the kindest of hearts. "Sister jane marie, if you have given your life to god and been so wonderful to him why would he give you this affliction." I got the usual answer... " the lord is all powerful and knows all. It is not for us to know." So I said "but wouldn't you like to know?"

I got diabetes when I was 9. And I was a really good kid. I soooo wanted to know, back when I was made to go to church by my mother. I stopped going when I was 13. I stopped caring way before that. Now when I think about it, the reason may be a) the fact that I was always secretly (now openly) an atheist or b) the fact that I was a misanthrope since I was 4. 🤣

I find it truly ridiculous that people go to a “Priest” to confess their sins & transgressions. That Priest has no authority to forgive sin. That Priest has no authority to forgive transgressions. He’s just a guy that can possibly enjoy hearing whatever you tell him. Remember the many Priests that have sexually assaulted the Choirboys & Nuns. Yes nuns. Priests do not have any authority to forgive Sin!! Don’t bother commenting to me as I will delete all comments telling me I’m wrong, or I’m going to Hell to say such a thing. The Truth is shocking. Deal with it.

I feel like Catholicism has done so much to hurt the Christian faith. Even without the pedo priests and crusades, it's just so hard to take them seriously. Everyone I know who grew up Catholic has tons of funny stories about it tho, so that's a plus.

The western ones especially. But still, taken all together, the presence of some kind of organized religious faith has had a net positive impact on the development of humanity. I don't think our society would have survived this long without it. And if you remove it, as is happening slowly right now, although some things do become much better in the short term, long term it leads to systemic problems that result in the overall degradation of our mental well being and ability to co-exist.
