"There's nothing for you in Netherfield" = There's no suitor for you in Netherfield. Little did she know! 🤣

Yeah, at around 2:08 Mrs Bennet's proven wrong. I love the slight smile Darcy gives when Lizzy answers about walking there. And also how their encounter kind of mirrors the one at Pemberly later.

@@horsepill2842 he admired Lizzy's eyes at the little assembly at Lucas Lodge, but I believe he became truly infatuated with her when he was surprised by her appearance at Netherfield 😍

I love rewatching scenes in well done dramas like this and to notice all the nice little character touches they add. In the novel we know that Kitty improves after Lydia has gone and develops a close friendship with Lizzie which they don't discuss in this adaptation, but it's hinted at in parts like where the girls walk to Meriton here and it's only Kitty who says goodbye to Lizzie.

I never noticed that and you are so right! Kitty and Mary are really interesting to me, I like to imagine how Kitty became less silly with the influence of her older sisters and Mary was forced to mingle with her brothers and sisters-in-law and not always have her nose in a book.

Spoiler alert: Lizzy was in fact NOT home for dinner that night, nor the next fortnight.

He was impressed that she walked the miles... in the mud ... to see her sick sister. It tells me that he was already thinking about her enjoying the grounds at Pemberly and what s good influence she would be on Georgiana.

The chance meeting between Elizabeth and Darcy in this scene is an adumbration of the later scene at Pemberley.

I hope your father took beter care of you than Mr Bennet did with his children. He's the worst father in the world of Jane Austen, after Sir Eliott

I found this scene qutiet silly realy that Elzabeth being such an exprienced walker should jump right in the middle of the mud without noticing it!

I think you mis the point that she was proving to her mother she didn"t care about her condition on a rival only the need to see her sister. She clearly intended to jump into the mud to prove her point.
@nanka20023 жыл бұрын
i agree with ruhi. even an unexperienced walker would have noticed that mud.
@thegreenmanofnorwich3 жыл бұрын
I thought maybe she expected the mud as it's clearly the means of crossing that fence, but perhaps didn't expect it to be quite so thick or deep. She did look slightly put out, so I think at least the degree of mud was unexpected, though she can scarcely have missed that it was there, or that it was the sort of place you'd be very likely to find at least some mud

I've read the book, and watched the last two movie adaptations many times over, much to my utmost enjoyment. However, after each I cannot help but feel sorry for poor little forgotten Mary and Kitty. I wish that Miss Jane Austen had included at least an afterthought for both Mary and Kitty telling of them both finding happiness; whether it included a husband, or a fulfilling career without one as Miss Austen did.
@christycrane590210 ай бұрын
Jane Austen did! Kitty is going to live with Lizzy and sometimes with Jane as you probably already know. And she falls in love with a clergyman near Pemberley. And Mary, now the only girl living with her mother, gets all the attention she deserves. She eventually falls in love with her uncle Philips' clerk (who is going to take over the business when her uncle retires) and was content to be considered a 'star' in the society of Meryton”❤ Friends and family always asked Jane questions about her books and she would then give additional details about her characters. One of her relatives wrote this a book.
