When I was a kid I lived in Texas and my parents divorced and untill the age of fifteen I had to legally see him by law because they had joint custody and he neglected my room I never had a clean space I was only allowed food water and a shower and never had the proper hygibw products at his house once he let his wife hold both my hands behind her hands and would physically dragg me around and even In public. My sister's would look at my dad and aay daddy do something and he just watched it and did nothing to do and he once point a gun at me and Stuck a knife threw my bedroom door and he would beat me and my sister with a belt for no reason I was basically a prissonar in his home luckily I lived with my mom full time in Austin and he lived in another town and I told my mom I thought it was gonna get better I was also on anti deppressionts to help my major deppressive disorder he kept those away from me when thoose medicine kept me alive I am a adult know and started fresh in Oregon me my mom sister's and my service dog where able to leave at the age of ninteen and suffer from PTSD I'm doing so much better then when I first moved and never told him are location and want to stop thinking about Texas and I want to forget the abuse but getting treatment and doing well this is Elizabeth smart is one of my idols because she still is strong no matter what happened to her and I still suffer with major ptsd and Elizabeth smart keeps me moving forward

@Ed Kahler I doubt it. Her story doesn't make any sense. The "crime scene" was staged (no one came in through the window above the sink) and she never got help even though she had hundreds of opportunities to escape. Even when a detective talked to her, she didn't ask for help. She chose to go back with the guy who was allegedly raping her 4x a day. She's lying.

Smart videos to see if someone else had doubts and they have either deleted all the comments that are suspicious of her story or we're part of an extreme minority of people who have their eyes open.. His name is Ernst, btw. It often gets misreported as Ernest, just fyi, out of respect for the man who sacrificed his well being and put his life in danger to bring us the truth.

Aries Sun&Moon The interveiwer seemed so emotionless when speaking to Elizabeth. And yes, her questions seemed even colder. Anyone in their right mind should know this young lady did what she had to to survive, and she did survive. That is what's most important, she survived! She had the tools to use against her captures to show them she could be trusted in doing as they asked while knowing eventually she would be rescued ALIVE at some point when the time was right. They should have had a more warming, emotionally connected interviewer, anyways Elizabeth was so wonderful and handled all of the stupid questions with strength and power. Love this young lady...she is awesome!

So why?!!! why in the library when the cop said "i think your the girl everyone's looking for, lift your veil" and she didnt. didn't even signal with her eyes!!! Or how about when she was placed in the back of the cop car, she said to the police "i am not the girl you are looking for!!!!!!" explain this shit??! I will help you. Her father was overbearing. Probably didn't let her date boys, go out late, or do anything the girls her age were doing. So here comes this guy, convinces her to leave. She leaves. Now she's having sex, drinking, going to parties. An entirely different life. And no overbearing father. did you see when they first reunited her with her parents. No smile, no rush and hug. It was more like ...meh...hey. im home. Give your head a shake, read the story. And you will see the holes in her story. Did you know she was even upset because the life network didn't want to use her in the life time story of her kidnapping!!!! she loves the attention, she loves the fame.

Maybe her dad got her pregnant and to avoid anyone noticing, she had to "disappear" until she gave birth.

I agree. A homeless guy waking around with religious garb and a 14 year old! The homicide detective who confronted her in the library but failed to request that she remove her mask. The identification four months afterward.

You can't really fault the parents for what happened with the crime scene. When your kid is kidnapped your first thought is probably not going to be "OMG I've got to protect the crime scene!", your first thought is most likely going to be "OMG my kid has been kidnapped we have to find her NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!!!" It was the police who royally screwed up the crime scene. After Ed called the police he & Lois called family members & neighbors to get a search going. But the police were the first on the scene & they didn't block it off to protect the evidence. It was a huge screw-up on the part of the police & they later admitted as much.

And the cops didn't learn anything from Boulder and the those guys messed up the Ramsey crime scene either.

I agree with you totally. The police made several screw ups. And their biggest was not doing anything to locate the culprit when they were given his name and the family took upon themselves to take it public... and good on them. All to often the police are so incompetent . Awesome to see her grow up to be a lovely person who wants to help others as much as she can....amazing lady.

@@Lizfan2 No, the parents called the 12 people to the house before they even called 911. They staged the crime scene. They pretended that someone came in through the window above the kitchen sink when that is totally impossible. The police was right to investigate the parents. In the end they couldn't do anything about it because the dad is a high ranking member of the church of LDS. He's a multi millionaire with more power than the police. People blame the detective, but why did Elizabeth not remove her mask and say "I'm here. save me"?? It's because she wasn't really kidnapped. That's why she's so upset at people that point it out by asking her why she didn't get help. Look at the pictures of her at the party.. she wasn't being restrained, she could have ran away or told someone but she didn't. She went home willingly with her "kidnapper"

I noticed this too. In my opinion they should have found female psychiatrists. Yes, she was also abused by a woman, but in this type of fragile situation, female doctors tend to make victims feel less threatened. A parent in the room might be difficult thought just because children may not want their parents to hear the deep details of what happened to them all in one swoop so they might shy away from everything that happened.

She even called herself "the girl that ran away" when the police finally stopped her. That's not what a kidnapped victim would ever ever say. "i'm not who you think i am, the girl that ran away". She refused to go to therapy because she said she was didn't need it (she wouldn't have been able to keep up the lie when talking about it for hours) and even slept alone in the same bed that she was "kidnapped" from the same night she got back to her parent's house!! No real victim would do that. Open your eyes and stop being numb to the world.

She talks about her experience as if she were narrating a National Goegraphical film about wildlife- DETACHED.
