Thanks for the detailed review. I travel frequently. If I wanted my business address and personal mailing address to be through anytime mail, would I need to select a plan that includes at least 2 recipients? It’s a one person operated business. I like the privacy and reduction of junk mail. I’d like to have that offered to both my personal and business mailbox. I just finished setting the mailing address with my name and the business name as only one recipient. I still havent gone through the notary process though

Hm so the paperwork for the business accounts will have the name of the business and also a person who can sign for the business ... but yes to make sure you get all of your mail, you'd want to have yourself as a second recipient in your own capacity. You'd probably have to fill out two of the forms, one for you and one for the business

Do you know if the City of San Francisco and the California Secretary of State will accept an iPostal1 or AnytimeMailbox address as a physical business address for foreign state qualification and city registration? In theory they are physical addresses with a # number at the end correct? Thanks!

It seems that their systems do not yet filter out virtual mailboxes, however they do require actual locations and could add such a filter at any time

Thank you for this video! Will a virtual mailbox work for vehicle registration? We have homes in California and Canada, with our vehicles registered in Calif. Will the DMV accept the virtual mailbox address as our residence address?

That’s a good question that I have not tried. My exodus that CA does not yet interface with the usps database so they don’t know what address is virtual or not. But that could change ofc

Hello Elizabeth -- informative and very helpful. Just moved to Panama from Montana. Would it be better to use a forwarding service based in Miami, FL for deliveries to Panama or get a Montana address and have them forward my bank, credit card, and social security mail to me. While the latter may cost more; all of my current information is currently addressed to my old address in Montana. Thx

I don't see a difference, since it is just a forwarding service. The difference would be if you are trying to use the address for other purposes (like driver's license or taxes or residency)

Question: Perhaps you already addressed this in a different comment but I get a fair amount of junk mail associated with my small business and I don’t want to get charged for each of these mail pieces as I don’t have control to prevent these mail items being sent to me. With Anytime Mailbox or iPostal1, do I get charged for mail I don’t want? Thanks very much!

It depends on the exact level of mailbox you get. Sometimes they don't charge for mail unless you have it scanned. Other plans will charge for anything over a certain number of pieces. So you have to look at each address and each plan. Really, AM and iP1 do not control all the pricing -- the local mailbox places decide the plans

Hello Elizabeth. I am from Dubai. I'm in the process of starting an LLC in Wyoming as a foreigner. My question is, one of the services in iPostal1 is the "virtual business address" plan. Can I use this address for bank account verification? It's my understanding that banks do not allow mailing address for verification. Is the virtual mailing address and the virtual business address legally the same? The prices are the same, how would one choose? Could you make a video on that. Thanks

I'd bet that the bank would need a real address. Most US banks require someone to be in person and/or be a US resident. Check out mercury.com/ - they can set up bank accounts for non-US residents

If I sign up for a virtual mail box to use with my business, with the primary goal of not having buyers see all of my personal information if they decide to ship returns to me, should the mailbox only contain my business name as a recipient, or do I need to have two recipients, one with my personal name, and one with my business name for legal reasons?

Probably would work well, many of the addresses have a low-mail level

Hi Elizabeth, Thank you for all the information you gave. Great video! I have a problem. I was scheduled to travel at a certain date and rushed into using ipostal1. Now I want to get out of it. I used to use traveling mailbox about a year and a half ago and it was hard as ever to get out of it and get my mail sent to my regular US address. I had to be on the phone with a postal agent or higher up to finally make it work. Now I'm thinking I'm going to get the same grief with ipostal1. But here I see you've changed your virtual mailbox and am hoping to get some help with doing that. I'm still out of the country, so first off, I want to know if it is possible to do this while still traveling. Is it as simple as just sending in a change of address online to the USPS? It sure wasn't with traveling mailbox, but maybe things have changed. Thanks so much for any advice!

My understanding is that you can't use change of address to move from a virtual mailbox (PMB mailbox) -- there is some USPS rule about that. But the company is supposed to forward mail for 6 months. faq.usps.com/s/article/Commercial-Mail-Receiving-Agency-CMRA#termination

Hi Elizabeth. Thanks for your answer. I read the linked article you sent. It sounds to me like I'm SOL with this CMRA service. Who knows what will happen to my mail after 6 months. It sounds like in the end that I will have to get a new address for USPS to start sending me mail to. Maybe getting a POB is an alternative. I'll have to have a conversation with USPS and find out what my alternatives are, if any. If you have any other suggestions, I'm all ears. Thanks again!

Hello, I have a virtual office with I Postal 1. Now I'm trying to get my Google Verification and it's asking me for a video in front of the virtual address location. Any advice on how I can move forward? I wasn't sent a verification code in the mail. Thank you!

Hm I think they want to establish that the address is your location, but it is just your mailing address. They have all the other ways to verify that it is your business (phone, etc.) so you may just have to use those

I think they always scan the front/outside of the envelope. Otherwise you can have them send it to you instead of open/scan.

This is from NW: Any mail from the California Secretary of State, and any legal mail, will be scanned and uploaded to your account for no additional charge. We also offer to scan and upload 10 pieces of regular business mail for free per year, such as mail from your bank or other agencies. Once that 10-piece limit is reached, there will be a $15 unlock fee applied to each additional piece of regular business mail received. The 10-piece limit will renew every service year, and we shred junk mail so that doesn't count against your free limit.

Then I'd look at UPS Store, AnytimeMailbox, and iPostal1. UPS Store will be more expensive but if you are going to need to pick up a lot of boxes from shippers (not just usps) then usually best bet

Thanks Elizabeth. In message chatting with iPostal1, they said I can't use my business name for my virtual address at their "Personal" tier level at $9.99/month. I'd have to use my real name. I have to choose their "Business" tier level for my business name at $14.99/month. I need my business name virtual address in the event of any returns of up to two of my T-shirt designs. And if any customers need to correspond to me by paper mail. Does this sound true? Thanks...

Hm well I think they always make you disclose the name of the human person who is going to sign the forms, because they have to give those to the USPS (and those get notarized).

I have your video about LLC. i am dreaming to open my LLC in california but But I'm afraid to start it. I started that business for a short period of 6 years. I hope to start a food shop. My fear is that if I close my LLC in six years, my customers will sue me. Do they have the right to do so or is it irrelevant to them since I am closing my LLC?

So if you start/run/close the LLC correctly, then no one could sue you personally -- that's really the big idea of the limited liability company
