Yes the dry lube works really well it doesn’t collect dust and dirt. I was using a wet oil type of lubricant and all it would do is collect dirt and dust and it was like sandpaper not a good idea. Thanks for checking out the video much appreciated!

OMG Frankie the man the myth the legend! Good to hear from you buddy! You didn’t miss it I actually have not bought the bearings yet. I plan on just ordering them straight from Elka. I’ve bought parts from them before new spring spacers slides they had them in stock and sent them right out. Really easy folks to deal with. That’s where I plan on getting the bearings as well. Hey Pitbull Riders. The compressor is an older Campbell Hausfield 5 hp. It’s really not all that quiet it was just located on the other side of the shop, maybe the trailer was blocking the noise. KC, have you considered using marine grease and a grease needle? I would imagine the oil doesn't stay in there very long. I'm a little disappointed the bearings/bushings in expensive racing shocks are not more durable. (surely racers aren't removing their shocks to oil the bushings every 5 races?)
@kcatv9556
@kcatv9556 2 жыл бұрын
Marine grease might actually work really well, if I can get a needle small enough to not damage the seal while injecting the grease. I imagine racers service there shocks way more often than I do. Thanks for checking out the video much appreciated!

thanks for the info! I have Elka stage 4 on my 2016 Grizzly 700. Also have a 2016 Renegade1000xxc with Fox shocks. Amazing how nice the Elkas ride! I can take my grizzly down the trails covered in rocks and just go wide open. Renegade beats you up. Have you had your Elka shocks rebuilt yet or planning on it? Im at 5 years. Also any luck with getting the Renegade suspension quiet? I grease all the fittings with Mobil1 red grease - but no luck. Still makes a crunch sound when suspension goes up and down. Thanks

Hi Doug, I have not had the Elka’s’s rebuilt yet, but a couple of them are starting to leak oil on the shaft. I need to look into getting some seal kits or send them in to Elka for a rebuild. I lube the bearings on the fox shocks, the same as I do the Elkus. The suspension is quiet on the renegade after making sure the fox shocks are lubed well. Thanks for checking out the video and appreciate you dropping a comment!

This was super informative! Thanx for doing this video. The shocks on my black Rubi started squeaking around the 3,000 mile mark and I just sprayed them with some silicone spray, which worked temporarily, but this is a way better fix. 0:18 - Eeeeee Errrrrr, Eeeee Errrrr, Eeeee Errrrr, "that's annoying as hell" - BAHAHAHA!!!! Not sure why that was so funny, but I pretty much spit my coffee out when you said it🤣🤣🤣 - - - 5:38 - WHAT!? No camera crew!??? WTH! A big ass important channel like KC ATV doesn't have a camera crew? I'm in shock! KZfaq must've told you the same thing they told me when I asked for a camera crew - lol - - - I'm surprised those bearings are worn out already considering what a fella pays for those Elka's. How many miles would you say are on them? - - - Couple of questions for you: Are those bushings or bearings? 1) I've been calling them bushings, but you're a mechanic so I feel like I missed the boat there🙄 and 2) Would that heavy red bearing grease work for lubing those or is that stuff too thick to get inside? - - - 11:20 - "at a bit of an aaaaaaannnngle" - lol - - - Excellent video buddy! Thanx again!

Hey buddy on lunch break now finally got some time to respond to the comments. Lol I think it was close to 3000 miles on them. The first time I lube them I believe was the second year riding with them they started squeaking. I’m really not surprised that bearing worn out in five years even though they’re Elka’s. Really no way to make that last forever. The reason why I would call that a bearing is because the inter-pivot is round like a ball. If the inner pivot was like a tube with a flat surface then I would call it a bushing. I think it could go either way since they both serve the same purpose. Hope you’re having a great day buddy appreciate you watching and commenting as always!

@@quaddingsous Big ass important channel like KC ATV hahahahaha LMAO at that one! 🤣🤣. Hey I forgot to give you an answer about putting grease in the bearings rather than oil. Yes I think Grace would work really well but would be harder to get it down inside the bearing. With oil it runs down all through the bearing and then I put grease on the seals to hold it in. But yes grease would work good just be harder to get it inside the bearing. Yeehaw!!!

Looking at putting a set of these on my 19 grizzly. How did they change the riding and handling of your atv? I love my grizzly but it’s super tippy and wobbly in tight technical trails. I was hoping a set of these would stiffen it up a little
@kcatv9556
@kcatv9556 2 жыл бұрын
For us the Elka’s really proved the ride and handling. It didn’t stiffen it up any. When you order the shocks you tell them what type of riding you’re going to do and they can set them up to your liking. What I noticed is the factory shocks have very little rebound control front and rear, so the handling is horribly. The Elka’s have much more rebound which makes the machine more stable. Thats what I noticed. Hope that helps you out thanks for checking out the video!
