Here's a behind the scenes look at how we start off ElkShape Camp. You're watching the campers shoot 1 arrow in front of the entire camp. Our goal is to simulate a stressful shooting environment and expose campers. You'll see Coach Turner observing each archer's shot process. Joel will be coaching at our last camp of the year in May of 2020 and you can look at his online course as well. Don't get it twisted - Joel is simply trying to get in the heads of each camper. We'll post a follow up video of him actually coaching them in the weeks to come, he was the main highlight of ElkShape Camp 3.0

I think people are missing the point that he's only acting the way he is to not only show the archers what they're doing wrong but to emulate a high stress situation where they may have a huge Bull in front of them.

As a hinge user, was a little disappointed the one dude with the hinge didn’t know why he was using a hinge lol. Especially after Joel asked him what the click meant to him. Poor guy had no idea lol. I opted for the click on my hinge and for me, it just simply means that I’m on the second part of my shot process. Before the click, should be staging your shot or going thru your shot process. After the click, it should be purely execution. Great content. And love the channel.

It's interesting to see that every reply about berating, insulting, or using negative motivation went ahead and berated, insulated, and wrote negative statements about the instructor. Seems like a lot of the critics are simply projecting their emotions. What I saw was the use of humor to introduce stress into the shot and see how each archer's target panic manifests itself.

@mikskater33 when you draw back, point directly at the target. Before you anchor or settle in, close your eyes. After you're anchored and everything feels good and you're naturally pointing at the target, open your eyes and see how aligned your peep sight is. You want everything to lined up when you settle into your shot from the get go or else you're going to be fighting some part of the shot

I don’t think he was saying don’t use back tension to shoot a hinge, he was making two points, one which is there’s a big difference between a true back tension release and a hinge release, Mainly a hinge is not activated by tension and the second point was using back tension to actuate a hinge is also not the most accurate technique although I find it plenty accurate for myself

@@dusanpavlovic2201 most compound bows today feature very high letoff; holding weight at anchor can be as little as 10-14 lbs. This requires minimal strength as does driving a car. Sight pin shaking is because your subconscious mind is bracing for the shot and trying to keep it from happening.

What he is saying is no matter how much tension u put on the hinge it won't make it go off until u pivot that hinge. So it is not a tru back tension. You train yourself to use backtension in conjunction with hinge release fundamentals to get a more consistent shot process. A back tension release is just that, it goes off once you've passed the weight set.

hahahaha! I can see why you would say that! This was the first time we shot during the camp. Joel's point was to put us in a "pressure" situation with everyone watching and to add pressure by heckling a bit. He needed to see our shot process (or lack thereof). Later in the camp he worked with all of individually on "how" to create a solid shot process through controlling the mind. It was very beneficial. Ive done well bowhunting over the years and thought I would do just fine... Im the last guy to go in this video and you will see me lose my head on my second shot when it didn't break when I thought it should... His course and coaching are legit in my opinion and He is a very positive guy despite the heckling you see here
