My name is Tongia. I am her Goddaughter. I was with her til the end. Thank you so much for this post. This song sums up her mood perfectly. This is exactly what she wanted. I want to thank each and everyone that has posted such kind words and well wishes. Mitchell is most recognized for playing the comic role of Hattie Mae Pierce (Big Momma) in the 2000 comedy film Big Momma's House and Evillene the evil witch in the Broadway theatre revival production of the musical The Wiz.

Funeral services will be held this Tuesday at her church. Viewing begins at 3pm. Services begin at 6 pm.

May this fabulous woman rest in peace! I am so grateful that she shared her gifts with the world for as long as she was able to do so. The world lost a wonderful woman but heaven’s angels gained a new choir leader. Her memory will live on in all of us who were fortunate enough to witness her immense talent and extraordinary kindness.
