I don’t know how I missed this in the 80s, but what an awesome performance. Ellen’s rendition gives a very strong emotive connection to the song along with her excellent voice. I very much enjoyed the delivery with her sass and pizazz that previous singers (Yuro and Brooks) were missing. The band was awesome as well. Watching this video is an experience well worth the time…I will call it, Solo Excellence.

@@rocthepanther75she did get a contract. However, in doing so, became competition instead of company for Meatloaf at a time, when he was probably at his best. It wouldn't have helped. Didn't matter to her fans. She's still one of the best female singers of the last forty-five years or so. 😊

Bonjour mon Ami ÉRIC, MERCI pour cette très belle vidéo, je ne connais, absolument pas cette artiste, mais c 'est une très belle surprise, avec une voix très personnelle, et très particulière ,et une musique très rythmée, bien évidemment ,l 'univers musical ,est très vaste , et c 'est toujours très sympa, de découvrir, des choses inattendues ou imprévues ,le panel musical ,en général , est de la variété, en particulier, est tellement , extensible , que pour tout connaître, je crois sincèrement, qu'une vie ne suffirait pas !!! Bon dimanche a toi ,et encore un grand merci...très amicalement...CIAO...Yves ..

She accompanied Meat Loaf on his Bat Out of He'll album, but apart from personal reasons, she was offered a record deal at the time. She chose wisely and correctly. 😊

C'est Jean Bernard Hébey qui a découvert Ellen Folley lors d'un de ses nombreux déplacements aux Etats Unis. Il l'avait fait venir en France en 1979 ou 1980. Elle était régulièrement programmée dans son émission Poste Restante, le dimanche après-midi sur RTL.

Elle a une voix magnifique et je tenais à partager cette chanson que j'ai beaucoup aimé à sa sortie et que j'aime toujours autant. I just came across here because I was looking for material on Meat Loaf..and found these Ellen Foley stuff..which brought back memories from college days long long time ago..here's the story: It must have been in 1980, we were college sophomores..German TV had recently come up with a new music format called "Rockpalast", which was very popular in Germany. Twice a year German public TV produced a live show all-nighter featuring a roster of international bands and artists (i.e. The Police, Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Ian Hunter, The Who..just to name a few..) Actually, on one of these shows, Ellen Foley appeared as supporting act for Meat Loaf - I don't remember exactly, but from this day on, my buddy O. was completely obsessed by Ellen Foley. I found her to be very mediocre as a vocalist and a bit odd-looking...anyway..My buddy's crush on Mrs. Foley became somewhat compulsary and one day he told me, that Ellen Foley happened to have a gig in London and that he would go there and try to meet her in person... I just thought, he was kidding me and said-ok, go for it..! Two weeks later, he stopped by my place and showed me some pictures of...Ellen Foley and him ....but the obession had gone, fortunately..he said, he had felt like remote controlled....I couldn't believe it...

Magnifique et magique de réécouter et de revoir cette dame multi talent par ses films et sa discographie de plus Ellen et natif de Saint-Louis (Missouri) la sœur de jim et de Waynesville ville voisine et mon beau frere et militaire à Fort Leonard Wood du coup avons suivit sa carrière , ( cher Eric c est le coup de cœur du jour 1000 mercis je t en remercie vraiment ) mon chéri va être ravi , je te souhaite un bon dimanche et te fait un big bisous amitiés de nous deux 💐 🌷 🌹 Josie 🥀 🌺 🌸
