it’s 2020. i just can’t stop coming back to this song whenever i feel sad and broken, life is so complicated that i think that’s people who break us when it’s actually life itself. the shit i’m going through is so hard to explain that i listen to somebody else who’s explaining it with her voice. yeap that’s Ellie Goulding

The thing I really love about Ellie is the incredible emotion she sings with. There's just so many feelings that flow so naturally through her voice. It's really fantastic; she's a true artist.

This chick isn't very interesting. Patty blows her away. Yeah, they might want to check out real songwriters like Lucinda Williams, Shelby Lynne, Cat Power, Neko Case, Lindi Ortega, Margo Price, etc.

Even I have followed her for many years, still can't believe she has so many songs. It's like being moved back in time and became her fan, experienced the emotion in her songs all over again like the first time I listened to them.

Do you want me to describe how this song makes me feel? Well, imagine having your heart ripped out, then cut up, set fire to, eaten by a child, vomited back up, crushed, stood on, thrown off of the Eiffel Tower, driven over by a tank and then put back in my chest. THATS how it makes me feel.

If you actually listen to Halcyon, and not just her radio hits, you can see she hasn't strayed to far musically. The production is obviously different. But the emotion is still there.

I agree to the fullest. Ellie's older music is the reason I started writing songs and play the guitar. I've been listening to her since I was 12 year old, I'm 17 now. This music is my biggest ever inspiration. Her lyrics are freaking amazing!

I absolutely love this Ellie too. I've followed her since 2008 when she was doing all this wonderful acoustic stuff, and seen her progress musically throughout the years. I have to say, I'm incredibly proud of her. And even though I don't prefer her newest stuff (read: Delirium), she even said she's always wanted to do pop music. So if this is what she wants and enjoys, then so be it. I also don't think she could've gotten to her current status doing just acoustic, electro or folkpop. When it boils down to it, that stuff is still niche. For example, I love Rihanna's older stuff -- her first album, Music of the Sun, was great. But most people who listen to Rihanna don't even know about that album and probably wouldn't like it because it doesn't sound like everything else on mainstream radio. I'm sorry for such a long-winded comment but I really wanted to point out how irritating it can be when people get upset about Ellie becoming a 'glam pop princess'. In all honesty, this is the music industry. If you want to grow, you have to cater to a bigger audience. I still love Ellie and will continue to appreciate everything that she does, but I will especially treasure these older tracks too.

she actually wrote a song called i know you care about her dad. you should listen. i hope everything in your life is getting better. i just lost my grandmother and although its not quite the same its still hard and the only way to be ok with it is to truly think of their life as a celebration because i dont know about your dad, but i know my grandmother knew exactly how to live. So sorry about your loss.

woah... I love her acoustic stuff. The UK has and had, some incredible singer / songwriters, #Nick Drake, #John Martyn, #Sandy Denny, #Roy Harper to name very few. Ellie is up there with these amazing acoustic icons in my book.
