I love him, I can probably cite exactly what his response will be to every question Craig asks, because I've seen these more than 15 times. It's Elliot, It's Craig, its the comedy. Enjoy!

This seems off topic, but this is why I always thought Craig Ferguson was above David Letterman. Craig might poke fun at his guest, but he was never out to humiliate them. He wanted his guest as much as his audience to feel comfortable and laugh. Often to the point that he broke rules of a talk show. He blatantly invites awkward pauses, he routinely passes over the main topic, he talked to everyone like a Normal person.

Unlike most comedians, Craig generally likes people, and like most comedians, Dave generally doesn't.

He is a host in the best sense. He sincerely wants his guest to have a good time. They all love his show because of it. Craig is simply a good egg and a people person. Notice he never talks about politics?

I agree 100%. David Letterman was routinely a fucking asshole to his guests, but Craig was infinitely funnier than any of the other talk show hosts and always nice to his guests, even if they were jerks to him. But of course the mainstream shows, Tonight Show, etc. were more popular because most people would rather watch that clean & bland shit than a real artist like Craig.
@sagarsaxena63184 жыл бұрын
he pokes fun at guests but at the same time makes ample derogatory remarks about himself. "Creepy old man",etc. No one ever minds when you degrade yourself for some laughs. That is probably why he was able to get away with a lot of stuff with these guests.

That she's a lesbian but was in the closet at the time? I really don't think so; he probably wouldn't have made that "accept yourself" joke if he had known that she really was seriously struggling with an aspect of that. Look how flustered she is until they go to commercial; I think Craig figured out something was wrong and she could use a break at that point. But I don't think he expected that reaction, or knew why. Of course, Ellen doesn't freak out or anything, and continues being awesome and joking around with Craig once she recovers. If she thought he had been intentionally referring to her being in the closet, I don't think she would have been in a good mood for the rest of the interview. It's certainly funny for us in hindsight. And I'd like to think Ellen found it funny herself soon afterwards.
@griefreceipts6 жыл бұрын
Precisely. One of the many reasons I like Craig so much is because of his ability to throw in well placed non-sequiturs. In one of his interviews with Philip Seymour Hoffman he asked, jokingly, if Hoffman "did lots of drugs". He wasn't being serious, of course. He had no idea. Confirmation bias is one helluva drug.

I have gone through a C. Ferguson watching binge, and have come to the conclusion so far that Ellen Page's interview is one of the BEST! She is so intelligent, raw, quick, genuine, unintentionally and intentionally comedic. There is a great conversational chemistry and flow between the two that is very entertaining! As with many of the other interviews many come across as fake, try hard, unprofessional, and they appear they need to drink or flirt in order to be some what entertaining - which in my opinion comes off as cheap and can be cringy to watch! I like creative spontaneous unrehearsed humour. The flirting on this show is too over done in most cases with the other interviews, it looks kind of tacky, too repetitive and predictable = boring! I even think this guy ALONE would be even better to listen to as pure stand up comedian...loads better minus the Hollywood fake chitty chat! 👌✌
