Is it weird to miss someone you never met and never could have had a chance of getting to know? It must be strange for his friends and family to see such adoration from fans. But this man and his work significantly affected my life. All we have are these clips now, and that's the only side of him I have ever known. But his words and music have been in my head half my life now. I don't know. I wish things had been so so different.

No one can write chord progressions like Elliott Smith.

Hmmm, I would say someone like Noel Ghallagher from Oasis was far better as an artist who had a very prolific sound of his own which was all down to his specific chords, can't really argue seeing as he used the blue print set by the beatles.

@@jackgreenway4646 I grew up playing songs by Elliot Smith and Oasis. The difference is Elliot's song structures often sound simple on the surface, like Gallagher's, but when you delve into them or try to learn them, you realise they are far more complicated to play than they sound. Meanwhile, Noel's songs are still just basic intuitive open chord progressions that any beginner can play.
@tj0329719 күн бұрын
@jackgreenway4646 Noel Gallagher wrote music that most beginning guitarists learn as their first song, Elliott wrote many songs that would take several years of playing to learn, and prolific doesn’t mean whatever you think it does, just delete the comment bruv

I was really into the label Kill Rock Stars and they would include a mail catalog in all their releases. This is where I discovered Elliott Smith. The first album I bought was either/or. From the opening of speed trials I knew I’d found a special artist. He wrote lyrics that spoke to me and his guitar playing was just outstanding. The world lost a beautiful soul when Elliott passed away. They’re have been some decent singer/songwriters to come along, but no one of the caliber of Elliott Smith.
