@EuphoniaPooch7 жыл бұрын
I think Erin on the mark and mocking is definitely the right word for the chorus. He had a great sense of humor and it's shown pretty colorfully here in the descriptions of these characters. Hands "Like a couple of crabs that got caught in a trap " for example. He plays with types and their speech styles in Color Bars too. " Sir no sir, we have no power in the air ". Mostly his humor in the songs is used to really hit people hard with his criticisms of them or himself. I Feel Like I'm Gonna Get Crushed is an exception. There's some, I have to say, cute romantic humor there.

@@mglenwright09 exactly right. The things that made his music so tragically perfect are the same things that would have made a relationship perfectly tragic. Same reason the funniest comics are generally miserable, self-loathing ppl with MAJOR issues... They both take (took) the most honest, raw parts of themselves and put it into their craft. A friend put it best when speaking to me about his ex, an alcoholic, whom I was then dating. He told me "xxxxxx always needs saving from someone. Today it's you saving her from 'Blah,' but at some point she'll need to be saved from *you*." Aaaaaaaaand he nailed it. She took another crazy turn, started sleeping around on me, etc.. The madness of the disease trumps love, good sense, right and wrong.... without help, without some sort of Recovery plan, It'll consume any- and everything good in the addict's life.
