The Cure performing my favorite by them, “Just Like Heaven” in a mix of clips edited and dubbed with an extended remix of the track from their album, “Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me” (1987).

A lot of musicians "back in the day" were students of music. Some studied classical techniques. Maybe they started out in High School Band, but a lot of bands had real musical training, like Queen, and ELO. Then came "rap" and the "internet". Remember Bieber? Neither do I.

@@anncoffman4448I've said this elsewhere so apologies if you've already read it. Each generation has their own music, different than the one before, that helps us stamp our presence on the timeline. I respect those before and after mine, all while knowing what speaks to me.

The music industry became about money, sales erradicating the value of talent, dedication and commitment :(
@kenlowe-ca3 ай бұрын
@@annettematisz46 I'll suggest that the early days of "Rock and Roll" were monetized from the beginning, with Elvis and The Beatles leading the charge. There was ultimately money to be made, which drove the promoters (I forget who it was for Elvis), record labels, concerts, and radio industries. We just can see it clearer today.

At 71 years old this is still one of my favourites. Kids think old people come from a parallel universe but we were kids to at a time when music was music. 60s,70s and 80s were the days of true expression and pushing boundaries. Now it’s all gibberish with any messages lost in a load of hideous garble. No wonder most kids nowadays are blitzed out of their heads on god knows what. Rant over!

Still one of my absolute favorites. Seing the mix of old and young Robert Smith makes me bit sad though. Reminds me of my own mortality and how short of a time we have. It was only yesterday the album came out and here we are now...nearly 40 year later...Jesus. And if I rincarnate and get to be a teenager again...it won't be in the 80. At least I got to experience it once...

Spinning on that dizzy edge I kissed her face and kissed her head And dreamed of all the different ways I had to make her glow "Why are you so far away?" she said, "Why won't you ever know That I'm in love with you, That I'm in love with you." You Soft and only You Lost and lonely You Strange as angels Dancing in the deepest oceans Twisting in the water You're just like a dream You're just like a dream Daylight licked me into shape I must have been asleep for days And moving lips to breathe her name I opened up my eyes And found myself alone alone Alone above a raging sea That stole the only girl I loved And drowned her deep inside of me You Soft and only You Lost and lonely You Just like heaven
