What VIDEO CAMERA did you use to record all this? I notice that the video camera records completely flicker-free off the projector's picture? Great quality.
@kkun56238 жыл бұрын
I recorded it with a Panasonic GH3. Any video camera that allows you to control the shutter speed should work if you set it to the slowest possible shutter speed for the frame rate your using - so at 30fps (on the video camera, not the projector) you would use a shutter speed of 1/30 of a second.

Elmo for polyester films ok but for acetate films image trembles. All the Elmos. The needle of the hook grazes the inside of the perforation.

I acquired an Elmo Super 104 (I think it is?), and it has a film cartridge in it, and I figure step one is figuring out how to play the film and buy new cartridges. Do you have any idea what would play that cartridge??
@stagesixx4 жыл бұрын
Siren Williams The film in the cartridge needs to be developed at a lab and played on a projector from a reel. The cartridge is only to run the film in the camera.

Great filming of this video! I have a bunch of super 8 rolls from my grandparents...how do I know if they have sound or not? I'm looking to buy a projector and don't know if the reels I have contain audio?
@kkun56238 жыл бұрын
A reel of Super 8 that has sound will have two magnetic strips along the edges on one side of the film. The magnetic strip on one edge is slightly wider - that's where the main sound track is recorded. The thin one that runs along the other edge is only there so that the film will wind evenly onto the reel.
@alainspiteri5025 жыл бұрын
there were two methods to record sound on movies 1) magnetic-recordings or 2 ) optical,-records with more sophisticaded cameras-projectors ; sound with family movies not interesting for me except the optical-way but too expensive

I know this may sound like a silly question, but I just recently purchased an Elmo ST-180E similar to the one in your video, and I cannot notice a difference between 18fps and 24fps. So far, I only have a cartoon sample reel to try. Is there an audible difference when running film at 24 vs 18 fps? I had assumed it would sound "faster" at 24. I'm not sure if my projector is faulty or not.
@kkun56238 жыл бұрын
You should hear the motor speed up or slow down when you switch between 18 and 24fps. If you don't then there's a problem somewhere.
@flexiblestrategist99228 жыл бұрын
If the speed is the same or almost the same when you switch 18 to 24 or 24 to 18, you'll have to adjust the speed pots inside. You'll Also have to know what you're doing and the right tools. I repair these machines.
@m3chan1zr8 жыл бұрын
Flexible Strategist I don't have the knowledge or the tools to do those types of repairs and adjustments on these machines sadly...

I got a one like this but it's busted because the turners that turns the reels around doesn't move when activated
@kkun56238 жыл бұрын
If you open the back of the projector there are a couple of rubber belts that drive the reels. The belts can get loose over time and that may be why the reels aren't turning. If you measure the size of the belts you can probably find some replacements via the Internet or, if you're lucky, a local store that carries parts for older equipment such as VCRs or tape recorders (which also use similar belts).

Can one buy this projector if yes What would be the price ?
@cinemahobby74182 жыл бұрын
You’ll find them on eBay. Prices range depending on quality even though they all are used and vintage. I purchased my super 8mm Bell and Howell projector for 120 dollars. I’ve also own a 16mm film projector that I got two years ago for about 250 dollars.
