Finally, the only good method for reballing. You will find a lot of videos with a bit of reflow titled as "reballing", but this is actually the only one in which the job is done properly!

The actual problem is the NEC/TOKIN capacitors. They need replaced. Reballing is a waste of time and $. Diagnosis is key 🔑

Sorry - one last thing - it looks like you used 2 types of flux - 1 more gel like than the other (is more like liquid). Which fluxes are they, and why use 2? Thanks

I wish I had the patience to do all of this, I blame Sony though for poor manufacturing of the Original PS3 models. Now I don't know whether to get my PS3 fixed...just buy a new 500gb slim model or save some money for the PS4.

Just a tip... the part of the cpu/gpu you take off ( the square shield) doesnt need to be heated up to take off the gray thermal paste in the corners. just use 99% isopropyl , works like a charm in a fraction of the time
