This is how I feel about myself, too. Sometimes I think it is a self fulfilling prophecy at a certain point. You worry about your inability to communicate and it disables you in the moment. I have been trying to go a little easier on myself and try to focus on asking questions that allow people to talk about themselves and then I try to just listen, maybe ask specific questions for clarity or to allow them to elaborate further. People generally like talking about themselves, lol!

I just make off the wall comments and random sarcastic jabs at complete strangers while maintaining a disinterested face and for some reason people skip the small talk and confess everything to me in one sitting. At this point, I’m either bored out of my mind or I find you absolutely fascinating so we usually skip the casual friendship bit and move right into BFF territory.

Saying that this is a huge problem, not something to brag about indeed (wich I doubt many do it because they think is genuinely cool but because they’re insecure and want others to think they’re not as uncool - or even make someone as uncomfortable as them)

Small talk always seemed like the way to get to big talk. Terrible at it so rarely got to big talk with many people unless we were drinking. Maybe the people I eventually did get to big talk with were people like me who also hated small talk but figured it out to get to big talk.
