5 years ago I was sure that my next car would be a Tesla. Today, there's no way I buy an Elon car. So, yeah, he has absolutely hurt Tesla.

There’s an Aldi near me in London that has exactly the same concept as the Amazon Fresh stores. You scan a QR code, do your shopping, then walk out without having to tap or scan anything else. The first time I used the store, I was charged for an item I didn’t put in my shopping basket. It also usually takes several hours to receive a receipt, so it’s difficult to dispute any errors. There are a couple of staff members, but they’re mostly there to stack shelves and check IDs. Now this news has emerged about Amazon Fresh, it looks like this Aldi store is more than likely doing the same thing. The prices are marked up too, which kind of defeats the purpose of shopping at Aldi as it’s a discount supermarket. Unless they can prove they use a different method to Amazon Fresh, I don’t intend to shop there again.

Just a reminder, there is a reason why (1) the only time Elon worked at a business he didn’t control, he got fired within the first 6 months because of incompetence; and (2) no one is able to actually articulate the specific science or engineering that Elon does that is actually value-add, let alone demonstrative of some type of “genius” or unique competence

I was seriously gonna buy a Model 3. I had test drives scheduled, was looking at listing my own car for sale... But then Musk said something particularly dickish, and I began to rethink that decision. Then I started looking into issues with the Model 3 and learned that it's a giant shitbox that costs a fortune to repair. So thanks for being you, Musk. You saved me from making a very expensive mistake.

For me, the real indication that Tesla can't be taken seriously is that they actually caved in to building the cyber truck. It's one thing for Elon to be how he is, it's another for his company to go along for the ride.

It's almost as if being born into money and buying tons of worshippers doesn't make one a super genius and master businessman.

Even at its peak, Tesla sold significantly fewer units than, say, French car maker Renault and is nowhere near the actual big manufacturers. It would need continuous exponential growth but is already declining.

I just saw a vid tonight of some doosh that picked up his brand new Tesla truck, exited the lot, gunned it and it catastrophically failed. Something in the front end failed and the truck completely shut down. I don't think that he put a mile on the vehicle.

Multiple times Megalomaniac Musk has said if his comments cause him to go broke, so be it. But each time his comments hurt his companies he whines and blames everyone but himself.

It's not just Musk's reputation though, as Tesla's reputation is also tanking. Musk/Tesla's habit of overpromising and underperforming has people being fed up with Tesla. But it doesn't end there: Tesla's lack of a proper support infrastructure is also hurting its reputation, as is its completely crappy Tesla resale program. Tesla owners often have to pay hefty sums for shipping their broken-down Tesla to one of the sparse Tesla Service Centers, wait for days and more often weeks for the vehicle to be repaired and then wait even more time for the vehicle to finally be shipped back to them, often with the cheapest transport Tesla can find. So now their Tesla arrives back with transport damage and to add insult to injury, the repairs haven't been done properly/very sloppily. The Tesla Resale program is also a mess: people buy a certain vehicle online, carefully selected for its colour, specs and mileage, wait for weeks and finally hear that "their" car, that according to Tesla was sold in California, is now on its way to them from Florida......... and it's a red single motor instead of the white dual motor they bought and have already paid for. Musk/Tesla is just bad at doing business, especially with consumers and it doesn't seem to improve much. Tesla still tries to hide behind "have some patience and cut us some slack; we're still a starting car manufacturer" and Musk seems to have lost interest in Tesla all together, as his focus now seems to be on X and SpaceX, after first having switched his focus from Tesla to The Boring Company.

Where I llve in Australia there are a lot of Tesla cars. It's been very refreshing to see heaps of other EV brands filling the streets now such as BYD, Polestar, and the big brands like Kia, Hyundai and all the euro brands. I used to think Tesla was cool and an awesome innovator in the EV space, but fast forward to ten years later and I would never consider owning one.

100% true in my household. We change cars every few years and I was definitely moving towards Tesla for the supercharger network. As a keen twitter user I am shocked at what’s now common on the platform and doubly shocked at the crap that Elon says and re-tweets. I can’t in good conscience support his company.

Amazon's Just Walk Out echoes Theranos; and remember the "android" which was really a person in a costume, and the plane facade Boeing once presented to investors as though it were a finished product? Small customers seem to be incidental: who needs these, when you have shareholders to please and investors to mislead?

The Jacobs engine brake, aka Jake Brake, is a neat little hack that allows semis to not be running away all the time with burned-out brakes by using the engine compression stroke to absorb energy, which is released with a distinctive jackhammer noise instead of captured like in EVs. This is very effective, gives most of the engine's rated HP in braking power so they can descend hills without melting their service brakes. The Tesla Semi has so much HP to provide the necessary braking power with regenerative braking. IDK about the new model, but the old one only uses all motors - and thus only has "1k HP" - during regen. There are a few modest-HP EVs out there, and if you check a review one of the first things they say will be the regen is weak. And now you know why EVs are so overpowered. When you hear Cancel-Me Elmo talk about the semi, it's pretty clear he doesn't know any of this. The correct way to market to drivers is the mighty and silent electro-jakes that everyone *wants* you to use within city limits. And when you say "0 to 60" to anyone in logistics, they hear "damaged loads." Even without his reputation, he is a big time liability for the semi.

My mom has a Tesla and during April every car gets full self driving for the month. During a 15 minute drive today we tried it and 3 times she had to intervene. It pulled out into traffic with no time, was on course to crash into a median, and nearly rear-ended someone while entering a turn lane. (FSD is just software and can be purchased anytime like an in-app purchase)

My husband just bought a Hyundai Ioniq and it's awesome. So roomy and comfortable inside, smooth ride, looks cool AF, and has an option to play soft otherworldly spacey music before you drive or arrive so you don't accidentally leave it on. I love the "aura"!! 😂 Also for a "sedan" it looks badass.
