Last year I had a bleed on the brain, which gave me a stroke and my left side paralyzed. My dream was to walk again, and be me again.this song inspired me so much when I was really bad. Now a year later, I am walking again, without a stick I might add, I held on tight to my dream, the words in this song were so apt for me, I thank you Mr Jeff Lynne.

Hello everyone, it's just little old me, I'm doing fine now ,even though it will be six years this year ( 2021) that I had the stroke. I am leading a fully independent life, I have some problems, especially with fatigue, but I'm getting along ok. I have just read through all the comments and surprised people are still commenting on my first comment. I want to wish everyone health and happiness for always, and to remember to 'Hold on Tight to your dreams.

jeff lynne is singing in French in this tune . but in the music video, at one point,the subtitles are in Japanese. confusing, but true. actually, "hold on tight" is in French and English, also. thanks for writing back also.

At 68 years old, I have come to the obvious conclusion that Mr. Lynne and the rest of the ELO band members have helped shape me and most of my entire generation into the happiest and caring people ever! Too bad you other "people" missed it! Thanks to Jeff and the band we had so much fun! Tell the others; You should have been there!

I made a feeble attempt at describing the effect that Mr. Lynne had on me and probably other "entitled" concert goers upon seeing him and the band in Jacksonville, FL in 1973! That, of course, would have been 51 years ago! I'm going to go out on a limb here and make an inductive leap and infer, based on your overwhelming insight and readily apparent grasp of the lives of the 'entitled generation , that you might have missed something along your way! Don't be too harsh and critical of an old, "entitled", ELO fan!

Einfach großartige Musik in einem wirklich tollen Jahrzehnt, wo man noch wusste wie man gute Musik macht. Könnte ich, würde ich in die 80er Jahre zurückgehen und wieder viel Spaß haben können. Was man heute unter »Musik« anbietet, ist manches Mal schwere Körperverletzung. ELO dagegen ist ein absoluter Muntermacher und bringt gute Stimmung; sogar morgens um 05:00 🙂

It's summer 1981, I'm 25 and heading to the South of France in an old Ford Cortina Mk3 with the lovely Ransom twins and this is blasting out of the radio - what memories this song has for me. I spent the rest of my life with the twins.

We found out how absolutely GORGEOUS Jeff Lynn is when he finally cut his 70's fro. Wow, look at him. 😚 What a looker under that wildman hair-do. He's a handsome man and so talented. 👏 Hope you're feeling great Jeff, and look into a "Tesla Biohealer" for under your bed. Very few Legends left...enjoy greatness while it lasts...From 1972 to 1986 Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra has had more top 40 hits than any other groups in the world. 50 years later they still play in sold-out Arenas and Stadiums. I just saw them this Summer of 2019 on the US and Canada Tour...( Best Concert of my life) All the reviews agree they are the best live act in the world and Jeff Lynne is a Music Genius. They are in the Rock Hall of Fame. Lynne is on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and Birmingham Walk OF Fame. Jeff Lynne’s ELO won the Best Classic Rock Band plus Lynne won the best Song Writer award ( ASCAP ) 2019 for his fantastic contribution over the years. Just thes song I needed to hear. After loosing everything 6 years ago, I have been in the slow process of rebuilding. Getting close to getting a new homestead. At 67 years of age it might seem too late to take on a mortgage but its about to all come together. The ex wife says, "quit dreamin". I will not.

Logically , anyone who doesn't like ELO are not true music lovers. AS ELO is what is the mass accountability of ALL music of the 20th century and more. They have Glenn Miller , Beatle tones. Great orchestra levels western styles Rock and pop .even the classical greats. ELO IS EVERYTHING

Boy , I wish they made a video for " Yours Truly , 2095 " back when " Time " came out. It's one of my favorite E.L.O.'s song and it's got such a modern meaning/message/sound - you name it ! Not that I mind this song , I love almost ALL E.L.O. songs !

Just imagine if this song would've been played back in the 1950's or 1960's....it would've been a smash hit and would probably have been a #1 hit on the billboard top 100 for weeks. ELO was such an underappreciated group who really tried to keep rock 'n roll alive in the 1970's when the whole world was stoned, man. Maybe now people will appreciate their music far more than it ever was.

+limesquared When I was a little younger I used to cartwheel to the bit that said over and over and over you go. I danced for a duo. I had to stop cartwheeling at 55 cos of the arthritis....this song was one the did specially for my acrobatics. I am still doing the splits though...at 61!! Fabulous song

Keep at it. At your age, I would have self destructed. I'm walking a mile now and have gotten a bit straightened out. I hope to up my distance soon. I'm 68. Since I started walking , I don't feel quire as much of an old man. I've loved it since these guys came out with it. Keep exercising !

"Hold on Tight" by Electric Light Orchestra Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) are a British rock group from Birmingham, England, who released eleven studio albums between 1971 and 1986 and another album in 2001. ELO was formed to accommodate Roy Wood's and Jeff Lynne's desire to create modern rock and pop songs with classical overtones. After Wood's departure following the band's debut record, Lynne wrote and arranged all of the group's original compositions and produced every album. Despite early singles success in the United Kingdom, the band was initially more successful in the United States, billed as "The English guys with the big fiddles". ELO has always had a way of making me feel better on my worst days. This is my favorite though this is for all the days that I'm just about ready to quit and I can play this song and I feel so much better. And I can still get up and dance to this. Just can't get musically this anymore
