Thanks to everyone who suggested I listen to this cover after I listened to People = Shit. Absolutely shows off Elon's skills. Not sure if this guy is gonna be in Slipknot but, I am now an Eloy fan! The energy he brought to the drums on this was so powerful! Which cover did you prefer?

The guy played in a legendary metal band, which is Sepultura for more than 10 years, which was even an inspirational source of Slipknot itself.... if you didn't know Eloy, there's something wrong.

Well their is something wrong because Im a metalhead who was born in the same city as Slipknot and my teacher was Chris Fehns brother so you would say Im a pretty big fan of them and Ive never heard of Eloy until recently which is a damn shame...

@jxstified7558 - I suppose to be fair, the Sepultura that may have inspired Slipknot was before Eloy with the Cavalera brothers(Igor on the drums). Eloy was amazing in Sepultura though and I hope whatever band he ends up in treats him right!

I'm not a slipknot fan, but im a fan of Eloy. It's disappointing that he isn't doing Sepulturas' final tour, but joining Slipknot is huge for his career .

Been sharing Eloy videos for years. He is the hardest hitter I've seen. Replace the name Chuck Norris in jokes to Eloy Casagrande... Now check a different angle. Look what he did with Phil Collins Easy Lover. It's mine melting. Besides power and speed, he's extremely technical and can fill a hairline crack in a song like a perfect and crazy weld. Throw in a ton of ghost notes on the snare also. One of a kind

Biggest basher biggest stick height around, Thomas Haake will teach him how to play polyrhythms, and Prewitt from Archspire blasts at 350bpm, much more skilled in many ways

Seen him play live with sepultura and he’s murderous, even more brutal live. Never gets tired, ferocious with the most unbelievable technique you’ll ever see. Check out him playing Isolation, that’s his masterpiece with sepultura. I’m a huge sepultura fan and so sad he’s left but if he’s joined slipknot he will take them to another level and make them relevant again. They’ve become stale but he will bring new life into them. Eloy is the greatest metal drummer alive. No question.

I have listen to Sepultura since the late 80’s. I started with Anthrax. After that started to listen to Metallica, Kreator, Annihilator, xentrix and Sepultura.

I would say everything points to Eloy. All the hints to Slipknot. And I really want this to happen. And if Eloy is not the man than this must suck keeping your mouth shut knowing that all fingers point to you.

With him leaving Sepultura like he did I feel like it is gonna be Eloy, the same thing happened when Jay joined Slipknot he left Against Me with no notice at all.

I hope he keeps a diary of the time when he played live with a dam mask on for the first time. I know he will be humbled by the skills he has with the new task to play for over an hour with a mask on. You can see he breathes through his mouth a lot. If he is the new true drummer, he will do just fine. Excellent time keeper.

I was crushed when Jay was kicked out. I thought he was amazing on drums. And really was so respectful about replacing Joey. I just am conflicted by all of this. But when I watched Eloy videos, I was completely excited for the possibilities of what this band can do. I just really hope they don’t continue with firing people. I would be scared to piss Eloy off lol! My husband has kind of let go of Slipknot after all this drama. But they are just nostalgic for me. One of the first metal bands I really got into. They helped me through such dark times. It’s hard to give up on something that’s been apart of your life for decades. But the last album only had 1 song I really love. So, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out!

I’ve had people tell me that I don’t know music if I don’t know who Eloy is. I’ve never listened to Sepultura (will be soon) But I love learning and listening to new music. I’m so happy everyone will know Eloy now. He’s definitely on everyone’s radar. He’s a beast and a great addition to Slipknot. And I agree….people are bizarre!

I actually heard about Eloy from an El Estepario video. He’s so beyond talented. And he did a video calling Eloy “best metal drummer in the world” I was super intrigued by this and had to see it for myself.

if you want to see the INSANE range this guy has on the drums and why he's considered by most other drummers to be the best metal drummer today...... go watch his "eloy casagrande 14 years old (modern drummer festival 2005)" performance and his "Eloy Casagrande - Solo of the Brazilian rhythms Drummers United 2019 Moscow" you'll see why his so damn musical when playing heavy metal stuff.

You have to see Eloy's TAM TAM 2023 presentation kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a9uVfbl9m5yrZmw.html. You will be even more amazed. Go to the 40:27 mark and hear the last song. A song from his project with brazilian guitar player Joao Flavio Hanysz. Specially his drum solo at the end.

So I can really play an amazing air guitar, I sing in the shower & my car, and I’ve been known to use chopsticks as drumming practice every chance I get. Uh…..does that count? Absolutely, joking.
