Bernie’s voice hasn’t changed in all these years. I close my eyes and it sounds like a more recent interview in 2022. ❤He’s seems like a calm person to be around.

Brilliant! Just a few hours in a year to make 20 to 30 songs that just come to you as you go through life. WOW!

Bernie and Elton worked so well together! The lyrics hit home with me as a teenager.

I am also one of the original Elton John freaks. I first heard his music around 1972. I was about 14 years old. Everyone was buying 8 track tapes at the time. A friend purchased a cassette player and we listened to a recording of crocodile rock. I became an instant fan .I joined the RCA music club. I bought my first Elton albums on 8 track because I was sure that the new "cassettes' would be less durable !!!

It’s a blessing to have lines like “she packed my bags last night pre-flight, zero hour 9:00 a.m.” just pop into one’s head out of nowhere.

I remember being a teenager in the early '80s and Elton was having a comeback of sorts with hits like "I'm Still Standing.' They interviewed him in "Rolling Stone" and went over his way of collaborating with Bernie. I recall being in disbelief that they could work that way. It's nothing short of a miracle. You really have to believe in the spiritual to get it. How can a poem on a page turn into a fleshed-out song? Amazing.

A supreme meritocracy… let the person who is best do it. If Elton had a bigger ego, he would have just employed Bernie and taken the credit. If Bernie had a big ego, he would have extorted Elton, or sold his songs to the highest bidder. There has to be absolute respect of one another - with never devaluing the other contributor for this to work. I watched an interview, and Elton said he found it easy … he read Bernies story/lyric and saw the film in his head… and acted as a movie scorer playing to the film he saw.

It's 2022 Elton John had to cancel his last tour last year due to covid but the upcoming tour will make this all feel like we're in Rock and Roll heaven. You can tell everybody that this is my song it may be quite simple but now that it's gone I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind how wonderful life is while you're in the world.

I remember this documentary back in the 1970s and it was named an Election Special" since a presidential election was going on. It had to be when Jimmy Carter ran. Furthermore another special featuring Paul McCartney aired along with this one. I noticed then that these TV specials were not broadcast on any network (CBS, NBC, ABC) . It aired on either channel 5(WNEW) , 11(WPIX), or 9 (WOR) . That is in order of likelihood and my best recollection and according to the TV stations of NYC). I thought it was odd because channels 5,9 and 11 were mostly for old TV reruns and old movies. The footage is well preserved. Hard to believe it was so long ago. My memory of it is vivid as if it were only about 10 years back, maybe 15. Elton is now near 70. Bernie Taupin's wife must be in her 60s now. Back then Elton was so popular. He is talented, but he is an aging rocker now. I heard he even fiiled for bankruptcy.
